War in Ukraine

They are beyond desperate for that American tap to be turned back on.....I suspect a lot of European pressure behind what Zelensky wrote there.

Big decision incoming from Trump....genuinely don't know which way he goes.

Even if Zelensky is being serious about peace here I don't see him accepting the Russian demands.

His best hope is that he can keep Trump in and that Trump can mitigate those demands somewhat......but as far as I see, Trump just gets slagged off whatever he does.....So he could just very easily say over to Europe.

I am the same I have no idea how this plays out now.

Trump does like to make a point of things.

But of tough love never hurt anyone.

JHB has been an embarrassment. ‘’I’m sorry’’ starts 90% of her sentences. I haven’t listened to her for a while now.

I’ve used the ‘’You can volunteer if you feel that strongly’’ line and enjoyed the mute reaction. Like chewing a wasp.

Russia haven't really been looking for a peace deal, it's Trump that wants out.....Ukraine want to find some way of dragging the US into the war as it's their only way of getting their land back, but Americans dying in Ukraine just isn't going to happen....it wasn't even going to happen with Biden.

I'm sure Putin is making slow but steady progress, but he was expecting something much quicker.

I see it like this. The West was not going to let Putin win. Trump is now saying, let's cut a deal because the alternative could be very ugly for everyone and nobody wins. An end to the war now means everyone gets something, and we will be far better prepared if Putin does something in the future after this wake up call. Direct confrontation over the invasion of a non NATO country was never an option. All the sabre rattling is just politics and posturing . We already showed strength by arming Zelensky.

Apart from pointlessly looking at attractive slavic women and an interest in current affairs, my interest levels in Ukraine/Russia.....speaking as an Anglo Saxon is pretty low. What were Nato were doing in Ukraine in the first place? Well, I know the answer to that but it's old ground.
