War in Ukraine

I'm not so sure that they or lying or if they are actually worried, but either way, the idea of conflict is nuts.

Where is the gain?

Putin has made his point in Ukraine. A war against NATO would be an enormous undertaking, never mind the seemingly inevitable nuclear finale. Given that no country in the alliance would accept the invasion of a fellow member country, our lack of readiness could mean the button being pressed early on.

Perhaps Putin wants to test the resolve of NATO to use the nuclear option. That would seem like a crazy gamble. Is Putin that crazy? Can he still make crazy decisions without being overthrown?

I don't think Putin is crazy at all.

He won exactly because he was rational.....Rational, not ethical....I don't believe any of the players have been ethical....and Nato certainly weren't rational. It's almost a joke that anyone believes that ethics plays any role at all in this.

As for the joke of the Nato boss talking about preparing for war with Russia.

Dried beans not tins.

No, both.

They are good but there are negatives to dried beans.....water and electric required to prep them....you might not have the latter and the former being water....well, using it for that is wasting it.

To those looking to survive, have enough for a month for your people and then double it because you are going to get sob stories you want to help.

Water is the number one resource you need....and a lot of it....Very first thing you need to do when the sh1t hits the fan, is turn your bath taps on and collect as much water as possible before it stops working....But this isn't your drinking water...stock all your drinking water beforehand.
Food needs to have various sources, of which some last longer than others....rotate and use, as and when your need to restock.

Honey never goes off, sugar the same, sealed instant coffee, salt, vinegar, high alcohol booze, these won't go off and let you down.....if you keep it air tight and cool away from the light, white rich will last you decades, freeze dried foods....but the last two also require water and electric...So also stock canned food, it's very useful but just use and rotate.

Have all the drugs you need, painkillers the lot. For nuclear, if you want to survive and have been far enough from the blast....You need Potassium Iodide (KI) Tablets: These can help protect the thyroid gland from absorbing radioactive iodine (a common fallout component) by saturating it with stable iodine. If you don't take it in time you are good as dead as your cells break down. Available at pharmacies take before or shortly after exposure (one dose lasts 24 hours). Dosages vary by age: adults 130 mg; children lower.

Rubbing alcohol, antibiotic ointments for cleaning wounds or burns to prevent infections....you should have that stuff anyway.

Wind up lights, radio,

A month...have everything you need for a month....work out how you deal with toilet realities.

Also have the means to defend yourself(s). Don't become someone else's...who did feck all.....resources.

It's impossible to avoid the contradiction.

Defend our authority while we screw things up for you.

How about no.

Double plot twist, it was the Poles who cracked the enigma code.
Not the English or Americans.

This is true....a bit more to it though as the Germans had upgraded and changed aspects of the enigma machines by the start of the war.....By 39, the Polish breakthrough on German military traffic wasn't working anymore.

So it's true that it's a common myth that 'the British (or Turing) invented Enigma breaking from scratch'. Turing himself repeatedly acknowledged the debt to Poland. In 1940s documents and post-war interviews, the British gave full credit to Rejewski, Różycki, and Zygalski for the original breakthrough.

However, Turing and co, had to make the breakthroughs on the new machines.

Russia take the city of Siversk.

Ukraine fight back into the city of Kupiansk and that city now appears up for grabs.

Russia have practically taken Pokrovsk though despite Ukrainian claims otherwise.

Seems like everything is a 'city' in Ukraine.

If they invade here, it will be like 'After taking the city of Biggin Hill', Russia now has the city of Coulsdon surrounded'
