War in Ukraine

To win the war and push Russia out of Ukraine the US/Nato would have to be involved with troops fighting and dying on the ground.

They could properly do it with under fifty thousand casualties because of their airpower.

However, the nuclear option would probably be used......Just as I think Ukraine would have used it if they could.

It's an existential war for both of them and that's how they see it. We shouldn't be involved and my position is Orban''s position.

Another pointless war that has drained billions away from the people who need it.

Don't agree. Air superiority would change the front, and behind the front too. Ukrainian troops would just advance. I know it sounds like artillery and the Somme but it's not the same.

Of course, this isn't going to happen.

You should research the Azov Brigade.
...and also the celebration of Stepan Bandera.

The Russians aren't stupid and they are sensitive about this sort of thing for some reason

And our navy subs fly a skull and Crossbones. Who cares? They might be a nasty bunch, but they're fighting a nasty bunch.

You sound like a right russophile, and you're talking garbage about Western troops fighting. If it came to that it'll be because we've been attacked. Stop making s*** up.

I just hope I don't find out.

Russia officially says the city of Kupyansk, in the north is captured.

From what I'm hearing they have most of Pokrovsk in the Donbas but that there are numerous encircled Ukrainian troops still inside the city, so that doesn't count as captured as far as I'm concerned. The fall could come any day now.

Ukraine has fought tooth and nail for both cities.

He doesn't have a choice considering the crazy political and media environment. They have been feeding the public one narrative for years.

He's focus group led.

Farage isn't the answer anyway.....and I don't say that because of Russian policy I say that because he thinks warmed up Thatcherism is going to solve issues.

But I'll vote Reform as he's just about getting rid of the left and starting the fightback against what Blair did and the woke Tories built upon.

Well Russia and their American ally have presented Ukraine with a take it or get annihilated offer but whichever you choose you will become Russian territory. This production has been brought to you by The capitulator in chief Trump and the americans the originators of "Friendly Fire" the worst ally imaginable as you don't know whose back the knife will be plunged.

It's looking like this peace deal is gathering momentum. Looks like Ukraine may have to give up a lot of land and cut it's come of its army.

It's shame it came to this and a better peace deal couldn't be made years ago when there was a chance.

Since WW2 they've been a shite ally. Will back you or involve you for an unspecified time.

On the contrary, when it mattered they were there in Europe stopping the Soviets when they were an actual threat. 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s.

Why are they obliged to do that?

Apart from their western European origin story, they did it for both economic and power reasons.....We are now their client states......WW2 ruined us and turned us into from a world leader to a medium level power and elevated the US to the leading world power.

But America isn't part of Europe and they are 37 trillion in debt.....even though you think they should apparently be fighting a world war.

But times are changing......Slowly but they are.

NATO operated on the principle that each member spent 2% of it's GDP on defence.

The US has consistently spent close to 4%.
The UK and one or two others kept to the deal and spent 2%.
But most didn't even get close. Even the Baltic countries, who are the first to cry wolf about an imminent Russian invasion at every opportunity, spent a pitiful amount - just over 1% of GDP.

Not surprisingly, the US grew tired of this one-way friendship, of these leeches who expect the US to protect them while they openly show their disdain for their uncultured big brother across the pond.

The US isn't the only one, Turkey and Hungary are backing slowly away from the alliance too. But the US is the loss that will really hurt.

Liberalism fecked Europe.

Not even sure it's politics, the US has plenty of allies of convenience.

It's the lack of integrity that rattles them. It's a pattern we see over and over with Trump.

Keeping it on topic, the fake Bravado of Zelenskyy cosplaying in military garb is another example where fakeness/ actions and words not matching really caused an issue.

It's not now that concerns me. It's a few years when Putin decides to invade again, and I don't think that'll be long, I think it'll be before Trump ends his presidency. He'll find an excuse to invade knowing that the USA won't back Ukraine under him.
