Trump might go nuts over Iran but domestically.....I don't think he really cares.

Maybe I'm wrong but he seems to care more about White House build projects than anything else.....something the Democrats will likely tear down in spite anyway.

Trump wants out of Iran and he only cares about not looking weak in how it ends. I still hold the belief that he got forced into it by Bibi.

You are absolutely correct in that Trump only cares about his Legacy. The Trump Ballroom (which will be renamed the Obama Ballroom the next time a Democrat is in office). The Arc de Trump will end up having to be privately funded and then renamed the John Adams Arch if it gets completed). Air Force Trump (Sponsored by Qatar) gets replaced by the actual new Air Force 1 in 2028.

Trump is going to use executive privilege to name everything after him and then it will all be renamed down the line as he is purged of monuments and legacy.

Yep, it's kind of sad.

If he had actually been the president he was elected by the right to be then at least half the country would have been happy.

Instead he ended up being the same Bush he came in complaining about.

reminds me of another chap who went nuts on Architecture plans while the city around him was turning into rubble. May 1945

that will be history repeating itself. Today, nobody calls it 'the Vespasian amphiteatre'.....which is a right kick in the nuts to the bloke who payed all the construction bills.

You cannot send a US government official to jail for doing their job. The immunity from the Supremacy Clause prevents this. It also prevents local governments from going after federal employees for federal crimes (basically what happens is that the Federal Court tells the state court that it has jurisdiction and then lets the individual walk if they did not violate a US law in executing those duties).
The only way around it is proving malfeasance in breaking federal law. The challenge that comes up with someone like Trump is that while I'm sure he has broken some US laws, the majority of what they are accusing him of are not actually against the law so it has muddied the waters to such an extent that it makes it a huge challenge to go after him federally for anything he has done in office.
What I expect we will see if a Republican doesn't in 2028 will be attempts to go after the underlings who are too far down the food chain to get a pardon. If I'm Trump, I pardon every single person who worked i my cabinet with the second largest pardon in American history (the first being President Johnson pardoning the Confederates in 1868).

And as far as someone like the ICC going after Trump, I again remind people of the story of Pompey the Great. Even if he is an a-hole (and he is), Trump is still an American President and no one else will touch him without retribution.

It sound like the Democrats are gearing themself up for a repeat of the Biden administration, e.g. spending all their time and effort going after Trump, which would be even more stupid than last time because Trump's political career is over in 2 years.

Where is the statesman / woman. The person who steps up and says to the country enough, we are tearing are selves apart over a man who is done.

American has multiple real issues, both Democrats and Republicans need to stop being so vindictive and just move on. It wont happen though.

James Vance trying to put some distance between himself and Donald Trump.

A bit too late when you insulted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on his arrival in the US of A. A scummy bit of diplomacy.

Indeed. Trump has had his fill. He's manipulated the oil markets to make himself and his associates rich beyond their wildest expectations. And the 'defence' industry too. Mega-bucks 😀

JD Vance is one of the slickest politicians that I've seen in a long time, I wouldn't be surprised if he is able to pull the magic trick of both separating himself from Trump while keeping Trump close enough s that MAGA backs him.

Ukraine played zero role in what just happened with the vote and it won't big role going forward because it goes against what Americans want (less overseas adventures and funding) and more of a focus on domestic issues. The issue with Zelensky is that he likes to publicly bully the leaders of other countries into doing more and then not being thankful for what they are already getting. I get why he does it, but it doesn't play well in some areas, especially with people who do not want to be there in the first place. I personally believe that when you visit somewhere else, you play by their rules. If visiting Ukraine, you play their game, if you are visiting the White House, you play by American rules.

Would the immunity cover the Insider trading?

Perhaps for him but not those around him who directly profited.

They would prove their ineptitude if they a) pursued trump before Marine 1 carries him away and b) selects a DEI candidate for the general election
