The interesting question for me is why Trump has done what he's done.

Trump is many things but he's generally got his finger on the pulse re public sentiment and how his base will react to things - there's no way he's gone into this without knowing it would piss a lot of people off.

So the question is why has he done it..? Because it's certainly got f*** all to do with Iran's 'nuclear capabilities'.

Even he was going woke in the end. I guess religions are popularity contests these days. Add in demographics and birth control and we can see who's going to win that contest without much guesswork.

At least the Catholic Church is belatedly showing signs of reacting to the in-disputability of science and adjusting its stance accordingly. It is accepting the world has changed.

I have seen the consequences of trying to preach this to congregations who are better educated and informed than previous generations.

It resulted in a huge movement away from them and their ultra conservative orthodoxy and into progressive churches.

I believe catholic numbers are increasing as they are quite conservative compared with the Protestants who have women priests and bishops.

True, but still while the Catholics and Orthodox aren't promoting rainbow and alphabet and feminist ideology many people are seeing it as a better representation of normality than the completely gone Protestant church.
