US Politics

As someone who has lived in the US for a couple of decades I do find this banter as amusing.

Mainstream and social media (enhanced by AI) shape everything we see, hear and define the narrative that suits them best.

It’s the case of the looney one percents on both sides that create 99% of the chaos.

I don’t live in a downtown sanctuary city or rural mid west heartlands BUT I can categorically state I, my family, my friends have experienced nothing of what the media wants to peddle these days.

I’m sure my experiences are similar to the majority of Americans and to be honest life is fantastic here in the US despite what people want to portray.

Right now I can’t see anything but another “red wave” when all the posturing is over come 2028. There is plenty of time for things to change but despite everything all I see is the majority of Americans are happy with life and overall direction from the government.

Just my thoughts so not as accurate as other well known posters!

And what the hell gives you the right to be actually living this s*** show of an existence and correct what some posters not living it think. 😂

How naive of you 😂

Why?

There’s plenty of obvious naivety in the USA. You only have to consider the fact that someone like Trump got elected twice to understand that.

On top of that I have spent quite a lot of time in both the USA and the Philippines, where there is a significant American ex pat community who I mingled with. I have been exposed to their political thinking enough to reach conclusions. There are many who can see straight through Trump, whilst there are others who can’t, and see him as a saviour. The latter demonstrating the naivety.

That some from that group could wash up here is obviously possible.
So you do know better then? At least we now know that TDS is alive and well. This post also shows a somewhat arrogant attitude towards those that don’t have the same political mindset as you. Again I would rather listen to those living in the USA than those that don’t.

I would concur with the AI media manipulation and how it's being used by security and intel agencies of all countries to create the narratives they want. Not just them of course but everyone with the ability to do it will be at it....form corporates to scammers and everyone else.

It's a real problem, that is probably only going to get worse.

The left want to focus upon X, but it's actually everywhere.

What is actually true will get harder to glean from the mainstream than it is even now.

In terms of your experience in your part of America.....Who knows maybe you're right. We will see I guess.

I can only say that America is huge and I know from my perspective my opinion is taken from analysis I think is accurate.

But I could be wrong like anyone else.

Not only do I not see Trump as a savior, I am not necessarily a Trump supporter.
As with all U.S. Presidents, I can see the positives and negatives.
Every human being on this planet has them, some apparently refuse to acknowledge that.
I was asking a simple question, which you either refused or were unable to answer.
Did I win? Not really. But I do think you may have lost.

P.S. My voting record in U.S. Presidential elections is as follows:
Libertarian - 4x
Independent - 3x
Republican -3x
Democrat - 2x

As I look at that record, I think it sums up my political leanings rather well.
Trump has run for office three times, I have voted for him once.
Hope this clarifies my position! 🙂

P.S. American ex-pats are a small piece of the data point. The U.S. State department estimates there are 9 million living abroad. So statistically you're talking 2-3%. You're not gathering information from them, you're living in an echo chamber. Which, of course, is your right to do.

This is a good post and accurate in my book. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Do you think that will be represented in the mid terms?

There are lots of people living extremely nice lives in the USA. Of that there is no doubt at all. However that doesn’t mean that their politics are truly representative or that they are in the majority. I can only report what my own experiences have been, both from my own observations and discussions with others.

Others, including those living in the USA, cannot actually do anything different. Whether they live in a billionaire bubble, a Washington bubble or a Minnesota bubble.

Feel free to dismiss mine if that makes you feel comfortable.

I can only report on my own experiences, which includes time with ex pats, time in the the USA and a very long standing interest in, and observation of, American politics.

I don’t suppose your voting record is so unusual. There has to be a group of people like you, or nothing would change, until the demographics did.

I see no positives from Trump. I despise all he represents, which has nothing at all to do with the people he is supposed to serve. The only mitigating factor could be that he is unwell, and has been most, if not all, of his life. That’s not losing. It’s my opinion.

But Biden was perfectly healthy according to you. So you are now a medical doctor as well!

Those free speech champions who dare lecture Britain and Europe about it are now arresting journalists for covering what is happening in Minnesota.

I always felt sorry for Don Lemon after watching him struggle to keep his audience entertained. Unfortunately he was on air when the Malaysian plane went missing and he had to try and fill his programme with constant repetitions whilst awaiting for new details to be fed to him. They rarely arrived.

Yesterday evening I watched a long interview with James Talarico. Someone I had not heard of before. Wow! This guy is the future. He just talks sense. Bridges the divide. Appeals to both Democrats and Republicans who are tired of the corrupt system their country has become engulfed in. He is currently in the Texas House but is running in the primary to be selected as the Democratic candidate for the Senate in the mid terms. He isn’t just a politician. He is training in a Presbyterian seminary and will be ordained.

There is so much that was positive. Too much to list here. For instance he speaks out against Christian Nationalism, describing it as unchristian and saying he knows many people from other faiths who are more Christian than these guys! Nail on head! He came to national attention when interviewed by Joe Rogan, who was apparently impressed. I’ve not yet watched that interview, but it’s here:-

The podcast I watched last night was him being interviewed by Joanna Coles of The Daily Beast. Here that is:-

I recommend you to take a look. The one I watched was very reassuring, to the point of being inspirational. There are good people getting ready to fight for democracy and lead those who care about it, whatever side of politics they ascribe to.

If he gets in he will start up the greasy pole. It’s all a front because corruption is rife in all institutions, on all sides, it’s how the world works.

When did I ever suggest that? I consistently said he ought not stand for a second term and that his delay in realising that was a big mistake. Not because he was necessarily unfit but at his age the pressures of the job are simply too much. He was showing infirmity in his walking and was never a natural orator but his mind was still sharp. More importantly he was supported by a proper team who knew what they were doing.

My argument was always in comparison to Trump. Someone I have always regarded as unfit to serve in any kind of official capacity, and still do. What I said was that even Mickey Mouse would be better, because he would not do any harm whilst others took the real decisions.

Experience on these pages has shown us many times that Wisbech is regularly way off the mark about most things. It is a common trait of people who are self proclaimed experts on everything.

You should take a look at somone of the earlier posts on this thread if you ever have time. The TDS is off the scales 🤣 it doesn't seem as bad these days as it was during the election time.
