US Politics

You are correct. The far left do not represent majority opinion. Nor though do the far right.

However, it isn’t the far left protesting what ICE are doing. I heard it described today as much more like a neighbourhood watch activity. A group of concerned citizens observing things in their locality that disturb them. Things that appear to be illegal, perpetrated by a masked para military force not wearing ID. With their trusted local law enforcement being excluded from investigating they have decided to collect the evidence on their phones.

Trump has been very successful in harnessing the power of today’s technology to reach the people directly, thus being able to spread so much misinformation. Now that is being used to upend him.
So having Illegal migrants and foreign criminals living in their midst doesn’t disturb them? Aren’t some of those they are defending illegal?

Calling someone an idiot is strong criticism. Saying someone is low IQ for something isn't abuse.

It's too far to call it abuse, maybe if it was continual, aimed at the same person and they had asked you to stop using it.

But the idea that you can't call someone an idiot seems too far to me.
Next time you're at Selhurst and someone says idiot I would suggest alerting a steward ........

I have no more idea than you! I doubt though that they would object too much to anyone well behaved. Just as they would object to any criminal in their midst. Whether foreign or not!

They aren’t so much defending anyone as objecting to the way the agents are behaving. A way that has resulted in 2 citizens losing their lives.,

Trump says government will 'de-escalate' in Minnesota following Pretti shooting Now coughing to his mistake Speaking to other reporters ahead of a rally in Iowa Tuesday night, Trump said he viewed the killing of Pretti, an intensive care nurse at a veterans' hospital, as "a very unfortunate incident". Grovelling over the much praised nurse who was an American born and bred.
It’s very obvious what is going on. Republican congress members, both in the House and the Senate have told Trump his administration has crossed the line. Not openly but via back channels.

So he has been forced to reverse course. At least for now. What will happen next are some scapegoats. The Border Force commander Bovino has been removed from the city. No doubt he will now be blamed for failing to control the situation and reassigned. The agents involved have already been placed on leave. Others will be assigned elsewhere as the scale of operations in Minnesota get scaled back. Noem will be sacked.

There won’t be apologies. Trump never apologises. This will therefore be the fault of Bovino and Noem. Trump, and more specifically Stephen Miller, who is the true architect of this, will hope this quietens the criticism. They won’t though change course. It will just pause until it leaves the headlines.

Only if and when Stephen Miller gets fired will there be any genuine hope of a policy reversal.

Ah, the last two posts.
Wisbech Eagle certainly has a pattern.

When there is conjecture that makes liberals look badly, he says:
"I have no more idea than you."
When there is conjecture that makes Trump look badly, he says:
"It's very obvious what is going on."

Apparently his mind-reading is a one-way street. 🤣

Maybe you cannot tell the difference between things involving genuine conjecture and those which are happening in plain sight but are then lied about.

Some of us can. I don’t know why Trump covers only his face in orange make up, but not his neck. I can only guess. I do know when his administration sycophants are telling bare faced lies, when they are contradicted by overwhelming video evidence.

Sometimes one must look in the mirror and admit they are biased. Let’s play a game.

Name three things that Trump has done well or accomplished in his 2nd term.

Name three times that Biden sycophants (your word not mine) told bare faced lies.

If you can’t do both, you are nothing but a partisan hack. And the same goes for those that cannot do the same when the names are reversed in the above.

I look forward to your responses and remember, no using AI. 😂

You can play kids games if it amuses you. Answering loaded questions holds no interest for me.

Trump has done nothing well in his second term. Biden didn’t fill his administration with sycophants. He wasn’t a one man band whose only requirement from staff was total personal loyalty. Biden ran a collegiate administration and took advice.

Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that is so far down the rabbit hole they can no longer see the light of truth.

Frankie wins.

You might think that someone living in the US, would have better idea what was going on than someone living in Cornwall, who gets all their information from the media and “contacts” but you would be wrong, obviously
Why?

There’s plenty of obvious naivety in the USA. You only have to consider the fact that someone like Trump got elected twice to understand that.

On top of that I have spent quite a lot of time in both the USA and the Philippines, where there is a significant American ex pat community who I mingled with. I have been exposed to their political thinking enough to reach conclusions. There are many who can see straight through Trump, whilst there are others who can’t, and see him as a saviour. The latter demonstrating the naivety.

That some from that group could wash up here is obviously possible.

Trump's response over events in Minneapolis are revealing.

It's weak and tends to suggest that he wants to play things by the book.

If I'm honest I don't really understand why when whatever happens a Democrat administration will put him behind bars once he leaves office.....They would ignore whatever protections he placed in front of them.

Maybe he's just playing nice before the mid terms....because that's when he needs to commit or not commit.

Fascinating.....but personally I wouldn't allow an incoming administration to bring back children transgender surgeries and all of the rest of their anti white and open borders policies.

Frankie wins.
Wins what?

The Nobel prize for childish games? He will have competition because Trump is also on the short list. Maybe you should encourage him to write to the Norwegian Prime Minister before Trump does. Even though writing to the Prize Committee might be more effective! Don’t want to be seen as less childish than Trump!

Whilst you are at it, you might ask him if his mummy will allow you a go on the swing, as a reward for your support.

Frankie still wins.

Of course they won’t.

For two reasons. Firstly, because it will be the law that speaks. Not politics. Secondly, and even more conclusively, he has been given immunity from prosecution for all acts he takes in any official capacity as President. Whether a new Justice Department tries to bring actions on the basis of private enrichment remains to be seen, but I doubt it. Everyone will be too relieved that the nightmare is over to bother.

For sure this is all about the mid terms. His ratings are well under water and he knows it, despite his bluster. They do their own polling and so do Fox. Right now he knows that if he doesn’t pull back he will lose the Senate as well as the House. Impeachment again seems possible, maybe probable and it’s not inconceivable that this time it could succeed.

So it’s not weak at all. It’s pragmatic and demonstrates that despite the slide into authoritarianism the people can still speak and be heard.

When protesters in Minneapolis and the NRA are singing from the same hymn sheet you would be beyond foolish not to react.
