US Politics

Was Kirk pro-Israel?

I know he was originally, but more recently he had started to shift.

There was a video of him questioning the events of 7/10/13, whether Israeli security 'allowed' it to happen to enable wider geo-political goals.
He noted that Hamas easily penetrated the most well defended border in the world, questioning whether there was an order to 'stand down' and asked why it took 6 hours + to respond.

I imagine these questions went down like 'a sack of s*** on the doorstep' in Israeli circles.

I'd say there's a lot to that....He was shifting.

How much he had or would have we will never know.

$3.8 billion a year in federal funding of Israel is loose change to the USA. Unless there are more hidden donations that come out of the US taxpayer's pocket (e.g. subsidized military hardware, intelligence sharing, US satellite imaging etc.)?

Or is this pure non-interventionism: it's over there so nothing to do with us. I get that, in a way. Why pull out of Afghanistan and pull back on Ukraine but devote huge State Dept resources to protecting one small country thousands of miles away?

Or perhaps it is a thought that siding 100% with one could alienate other important trading states in the region like the Saudis?

Or a combination of the above?

I think it's all in there and most of the public don't have any idea what's behind the curtain.....just like that old 1939 movie.

Wall Street.....Finance......It's the old story.

Filtered access to top positions by loyalty.....Donor support linked to policies, intel blackmail if they can get it to ensure that same support.

Politicians are important but they are also part puppets for money....buy-able almost in the way the Mafia bribed a hundred years ago.

Money bribes those without much money (unless they are stridently ideological) Whereas, blackmail and establishment advantages reward those with money.....Epstein's honeypot operations being just one of several that have operated on and off for decades....He was just ostentatious and flew too close publicly.

Friend/enemy distinction......Classic elite theory.

All true. But what's funny is that 20 or 30 years ago you would be labelled as a leftist subversive for saying that about Wall Street. Maybe even 10 years ago.

When they realised that wasn't working they shifted the goalposts and label such views 'far-right' instead. They feel that is a more effective smear and one which mobilises the brain-dead sheep more readily.
Now people like Russell Brand, Oliver Stone and George Galloway find themselves thrown into the 'far-right' camp. Hilarious if it wasn't so transparent and ridiculous.
