US Politics

1 Year ago. Trump really did carry out an excellent election campaign last year. He also did a bin truck driver aswell if I remember correctly 😃

Trump's campaign had a lot less money behind it but far more in touch people running it.

Harris had too many activists and no one in charge who seemed to know the right moves.....or had the power to make them happen it seems.

Sounds like the Remain campaign.

Remain had more money (but if I remember correctly weren't allowed to use it), but a harder position to sell than leave, but I make you right.

Remain chose to go down the economic route, plus fear mongering (both sides went with fear mongering). It didn't go with a positive campaign for the EU....and frankly I can see why, as half of their team were lukewarm and critical of the EU anyway (Cameron, Corbyn)

Leave went down the economic route as well but far more of their campaign related to negative feelings towards the EU and immigration and thus boomer dissatisfaction with changes since the 70s (complaints I largely agree with).

The EU is just a hard sell for everyone because it comes with inbuilt flaws......it's a bit like a forced marriage where a women is told to marry some ugly but wealthy (mostly borrowed wealth) option instead of going with their heart.....When given the option to refuse many will take it.

Leave were sensible in having multiple campaigns that were led by different people focusing on different aspects. Cummings was very effective behind the scenes, he gets things done, but he focused on economics and mostly ignored immigration.

Farage was allowed to focus on immigration in a separate campaign body.....Appealing to that base far more effectively than others would have. They came out and voted for him.

Merkel really badly damaged the Remain campaign when Cameron asked her for concessions. If he had got them on freedom of movement I think the leave campaign would have been cut off at the knees.

Merkel has a lot to be blamed about (for multiple situations)....like Clinton with 2008....a lot of people in the know can correctly draw back to decisions they made.

Wasn't expecting a thought out response. My fault for not adding a winking emoji (yes, I said "winking").

On which, still trying to work out Rudi's emojis referencing me. These young folk and their hip speak.

In the interest of fair play she was chucked bit of a curve ball with Bidens late withdrawal, no?

East German too, I still don't understand why she was so pro open boarders having spent half her life in the east so to speak. Thought she'd be more bent towards protectionism.

I don't know if the extra time would have helped her or not.

Her team made fundamental mistakes.

Biden would have probably have done better.....as ridiculous as that sounds considering he was clearly incapable of actually under-taking such a very demanding job due to intellectual decline.

Intellectual sharpness tends to decline after seventy (you don't see top chess players after that age)....though not for all and for many not enough to make much of a difference until they are a lot older, but it happens.

The presidency should have an age cap.

It use to be her position.

I think the answer to the change is true for most of parties in Europe.

In most cases it's their versions of the treasury.

Europe decided long ago now that their answer to falling European birth rates and older populations was third world immigration. They have lied and lied about it but amongst themselves there's enough evidence to prove otherwise.

Treasures are dominated by economic liberals and even though they are proven more wrong by every year that goes by, until the unpopular social/neo liberals are voted out in Europe they will continue on and double down on their plans......Admitting their mistakes would be devastating for them.

But what they have done is so damaging that it'll take a generation of actual right wing policy to fix.....Will that happen? Well if it doesn't I fear for what the alternative will be.

Seem have benefited on a relatively weak euro to support their exports and a major buyer of Russian gas.

That sign clearly says “Denver Communists”!

I am surprised there are any but would bet there aren’t many and that the Democrats have nothing to do with them.

You clearly missed the sign "Charlie Kirk had it coming" seen at the no kings "peace" protest.

Or maybe you see nothing wrong with the behavior of these people at the protests?

Yep, built up a great manufacturing base and guild system the envy of any in the world.

Ukraine war has hit their economy hard.....Ukraine/US blowing up that gas pipeline was outrageous and criminal.
