US Politics

If only the UK had a prime minister that loved his country the way Trump loves his. The contrast in Trump's first 3 weeks in office compared with two tier kiers 6/7 months is almost night and day.

You have a president who carried out most of his election promises and galvanized the US and most of the world and a prime minister who has broken nearly of his promises and has locked up and alienated half the nation and has become a laughing stock to the rest of the world.
You are so myopic that it’s a wonder you can see enough to type this bs!

Trump no more loves his country than he loves you. He loves the sound of his own voice and being loved by the gullible, but nothing beyond that. It’s all just an act.

Keeping promises that are stupid doesn’t change the fact that they are stupid. Making stupid promises is what populists do to get elected. Keeping them is what stupid Presidents do after they elected. Trump is very stupid.

The job of any political leader is not to give people what they want. It’s to give people what they need and then explain why.

That’s what Starmer is doing. He knows very well that many of the things they have started to do were going to be unpopular and receive criticism, especially in the tabloids. He also knows that with a big majority he can do it. The problems arrive in 2029 when Labour have to defend their record and face the usual issue of being the incumbent government actually doing things and not just making criticisms and promises. They are likely to be helped by the Tories and Reform scrapping for the same voters and hurt by the LibDems looking stronger. Coalition probable.

I’m in the US at the moment. Trump seems very popular and seen lots of nasty words painted on buildings about Joe. Just saying
Early days.

Depends where you are too. Biden got a lot of negative stuff thrown at him in the last months of his term, some deserved but a lot just character assassination from the right.

Trump is serving up plates of red meat to his base but when the outcomes become clearer and they start to bite he will find things get tougher. You cannot survive for ever on bs and loud mouth rhetoric. When the videos start of starving kids or dried up wells are pinned to his door along with rising prices which he promised to reduce, then things get tougher. He will blame Musk and sack him and it’s all downhill from there.

Blimey. Most of us don't like two tier kier and hate what he is doing with the UK but we don't have Kier Derangement syndrome over it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Those with TDS need to get over themselves otherwise it's going to be a long long couple of years.

If I was trump I would get this t*** to apologise on TV for being a left wing arse wipe who doesn’t deserve an audience with him. Then f*** him off home.

And the question of why this has not happened?

Mandelson makes no sense. Unless that is the point. A direct message to the US from the UK establishment. Throw in Mandelsons connection to Epstein and things are beyond murky.

Mandelson should have been finished in politics a LONG TIME AGO. Had to resign not once but twice from Ministerial positions. And yet now, gets this job. Perhaps one of the most important roles in the entire system of Governance (and this is not meant to be a political position).

Something very, very amiss.

Mandelson , can't work out if it's meant to be a slur to USA, or something else. It's about as appropriate as making Phillip Schofield headteacher at a boys school.

I've heard that on the first day that Patel starts at the FBI the Epstein list gets released so.....

I'm enjoying the meltdown over DOGE from the media and the Democrats.

I get if you are losing your job you would be upset but the media should be paying more attention. All this stuff about how dare Trump do this, it's illegal etc. Trump is doing what he promised the electorate he would.

The more Musk uncovers the more hollow the protestations sound, government departments spending taxpayers money on absurd stuff often unrelated to their official task and without proper oversight, yet Trump is the villain.

I suspect that even some people who voted for Harris will be reading this stuff and thinking hang on why are my tax dollars being spent on this?

Dig baby dig.

Trump has said that Musk/DOGE's next area of enquiry will be the Pentagon, particularly around military spending. Since they've failed the last seven audits and been "unable to account" for billions of dollars there could well be some more drama coming.

It is a message. With the messenger the crucial part. Along with what can only be construed as a warning. No other way of seeing it because everything else makes almost zero sense. And Mandelson is full on, SW1 Deep State. Moves in all the right globalist circles. Inextricably linked to Blair. This is a purely political appointment.

The concerns have nothing to do with uncovering corruption or improving efficiency. Everyone supports the need for effective auditing and internal oversight.

It’s the blanket cancellation of swathes of government functions preceded by the sacking of the various department oversight officers charged with ensuring good practice.

Throwing out a few assertions of stupidity as red meat tidbits to feed the prejudices of the masses doesn’t justify doing this. It’s stupidity on an unprecedented scale. Carnage of public service being undertaken on an altar of ideology. Not through a process of detailed analysis.

It’s suicidal. As services collapse it will come back to haunt the USA. Worse than that, people who depend on aid will die and the vacuum that’s being created will be filled by China.

As well as using money for internal political use like taxpayer money to provide funding to Democratic supporting media organisations by way of paying for subscriptions, providing money to organisations to create campaigns and advertiser boycotts so that they can censor their own citizens on social media platforms.....notable campaigns against Facebook and Twitter...Zuckerberg folded, Musk didn't.

The funding of NGOs...non governmental organisations to carry out their aims is particularly ironic.....but as we know anyone with more than a little curiosity has known about this for some time now. Essentially all that they were accusing Russia and China of doing they are doing themselves and then presenting as ethically higher.

This has been said for a long time ago by people like Benz (he's a hero but I hope he has life insurance) and it was either ignored or dismissed as conspiracy theory......but yet again, it's been proven to be true.
