US Politics

When have I ever said that?

Many live extremely nice lives. Which have nothing to do with Trump. For most of them their lives will surely get worse as a consequence of him. In my opinion, looking at the probable outcomes of the policies.
That wasn't the point.
You said.

Having some personal experience of anything like this tends to provide a perspective not available without.

But will still try to correct those who actually live in America. In the same way that you've attempted to correct those who live in London.

You ignore the key words!

I said “anything like this”! Having members of your own family going through something like this gives you a perspective not available to others.

Forming opinions on more general, well known and well documented issues like the situation in the USA and in London, both of which I have often visited, isn’t really comparable.

And living somewhere gives you a perspective as well but you dismiss their experience all the time.

Trump baselessly blames D.C. plane crash that killed 67 on DEI and Biden

All those people and that's all he thought of.

I guess you have to be a bit of an ars***le to be President, and he fits it to a tee.

👍

Yes. He was totally wrong to try to politicise this tragic event. Even his supporters must have thought it was a bad thing to do.

The helicopter was at 500 ft when 200ft is the max at that location. An experienced pilot wouldn’t make that mistake. After Southport we all wanted questions answered . Why after this crash shouldn’t questions be asked.
Trump knows DEI contributed to this and when the facts come out there will be some egg on faces. He may be daft but he ain’t stupid.
Imagine other pilots or bus drivers or the like are s*** and not fit for the job because they were a DEI hire. Lives are at risk here and meritocracy saves lives.

Of course I don’t dismiss their experience. They base their opinions on it. I have my own formed in other ways.

The difference is that I just don’t live in a society in which something is happening, something I might observe but isn’t within my own family. It is within my family. I know how those directly involved are impacted. Not theoretically.

Do you seriously think that any DEI hire would be given a job they were incompetent to handle?

There’s lots of jobs they can do. There are others they might not.

Actually he didn't. He indicated the fault lay with the helicopter. He did say he reversed the DEI policy applied to FAA hires, good, who wants ATC people n ot employed on merit.

You have no idea whether anything he said was baseless or not.

I suspect you are doing your usual of cutting and pasting a headline you like from...the Guardian.

Trump went into some detail and your headline was not all he thought of, have you actually watched the press conference? I doubt it

Best keep to posting jew hate, your specialst subject

So in this one case distance doesn't add greater perspective which is the usual claim.

I think it's a valid criticism of Trump.

I of course fully agree with the general policy against DEI hiring, however if DEI is related to the crash, which may or not be the case, now was not the time to focus on it. I regard his press conference as unprofessional.

He really should wait until the investigation informs him and then if his suspicion is confirmed he can have his rant.....which if it's a DEI hire or policy is fully justified.

What he actually said was that the FAA had a ridiculous hiring policy. He did not actually say that was responsible for the accident. It's semantics to a degree but if someone is being criticised for what they said then they need to have actually said it, not an interpretation by a third party.

I think the investigation will be swift and transparent

AP reporting staffing in the control tower was " not normal ".

An internal preliminary report from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reportedly showed that the number of staff members working at the air control tower at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Virginia, was "not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic."

On Wednesday night, an American Airlines plane and an Army helicopter collided near Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, D.C., and all 67 people onboard both aircraft are presumed to be dead.

The Associated Press obtained a report which showed one air traffic controller was working two positions at the time of the crash.

Typically, the two assignments are split between two air traffic controllers.

If true is incredibly serious, if it had a direct result on the accident then even more so.

So sad so many deaths

True, though it's the optics of the situation and the morning after not really appropriate to focus on at this time.

If the fault, is found to be more with the helicopter pilot not following procedure....which I suspect might be the case, then it's a case of him rushing in on the FAA.

I hear they have found the black boxes so hopefully we get answers quickly, though internally the FAA will know already as they must record stuff as procedure.
