I saw official statistics today that showed in Trumps first week in office the illegal crossings into Del Rio went down to 60 from a 2023 high of 4000 a week.

Something tells me it's taking effect. Remove the bad guys first and that's real progress. With the numbers reduced to manageable levels the focus can turn to providing entry to law abiding, work seeking migrants and genuine asylum-seeking individuals.

I do not understand how/why people are opposed to that?

Many live extremely nice lives. Which have nothing to do with Trump. For most of them their lives will surely get worse as a consequence of him. In my opinion, looking at the probable outcomes of the policies.

I don’t think anyone is opposed to it. If that’s all that happens but the stated intentions go way beyond that.

The numbers being down is hardly surprising either. People will be pausing to reassess things and work out what to do next.

You are entitled to your own beliefs and attitudes and this is accepted common sense in non authoritarian systems. It's only in authoritarian systems where you are expected to support whatever lies the establishment wants to push....Indeed, it's already enforced within the job market......Our laws are in effect authoritarian in many areas.

Have you read what Trump has said today, following the Washington air disaster?

Stating the obvious he said it should have been avoided and then blamed the DEI programme run by the FAA as a possibility contributing. He read from their website about people with “missing extremities, partial paralysis, completely paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism" being targeted for recruitment, blaming Biden for the policy and suggesting that having such people controlling aircraft puts the public at risk!

Does the idiot not understand that the FAA have thousands of roles not directly involved with aircraft movements?
