US Politics

My bad. I meant resigning from running or future office. Poor choice of words on my part.

Simpson's statement read, "I will pursue as my primary goal in life the killer or killers who slaughtered Nicole and Mr. Goldman. They are out there somewhere".

Just because someone makes a statement doesn't make it honest or accurate.

One of the main reasons he is not seeking re-election is that the Democratic Party pressured him to do so. They now see him as a liability. That's just politics, Republicans do the same thing. But to think he did this out of some sort of altruism or a a desire to work on ending the scandalous corruption is just plain silly and naive.
Where do you get that idea from?

Trump, and his pack of attack dogs, are doing what they do to anyone who dares oppose Trump in any way. They belittle, prosecute or otherwise try to marginalise them. So Walz has been been subjected to all kinds of innuendo. Just as you have used.

Maybe he thinks 62 is old enough for any politician!

The collapse of Venezuela’s air defense exposes the limitations of Chinese military systems in the face of the U.S. operation The collapse of Venezuela’s air defense exposes the limitations of Chinese military systems in the face of the U.S. operation
I suspect there was a great deal of Venezuelan military complicity. Tooo easy. Some squaddie "accidentally forgot" to turn the machine on.

Notable, that of the many people murdered by Delta, they appear to have been largely imported Cuban regulars rather and Venezuelan.

sigh

I am suddenly reminded of the Mark Twain saying:
"Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience."
You win. 🙂

I am constantly reminded of it every time I open these pages but as an eternal optimist I keep on hoping Twain was wrong. Discovering just how stupid, misinformed and prejudiced, people can be is also interesting.

This exchange reminded me not of a Mark Twain witticism but of something Michael Corleone said in the Godfather, “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer". It’s also wise.

Just seen that the US CDC have reduced the childhood recommended vaccines down to 11? Seems it's now more inline with the European recommendations?

RFK doing what he promised by making America healthy again.

You think reducing child vaccinations will make children healthier?

You are as deluded as Kennedy is. We are about to start vaccination children against chicken pox. I know where I would prefer to be a child.

Fewer mandatory shots aligns the US closer to many European nations that prioritise consensus vaccines and achieve strong outcomes without over vaccinating.

Chickenpox vaccine stays recommended for all US kids unlike some in Europe where it's optional or absent.

RFK is delivering on evidence based reform and trust. 👍

How is a consensus a sensible way of determining the best way to decide health policy? We aren’t voting in a government. We are deciding things that require specialist medical knowledge. Which only the highly trained possess. Not us. No nation will over vaccinate! It would completely defeat the objective.

RFK is delivering on prejudice and conspiracy theory.

A little bit of smallpox never did anyone any harm.

Jeffrey Sachs addressed the UN Security Council today. Which says quite a lot about the regard he is held in. Here is what he had to say:-

It's someone what amusing to see you use Jeffrey Sachs here because what he's saying is anti Trump.

However, you would disagree with Sachs on many other matters, notably Ukraine.

Sachs is a liberal but one I respect because he actually has principles....He won't apply one set of principles to his friends and dismiss principles for his enemies.....Unlike you who has implied on multiple occasions that the ends suit the means when it comes to Trump.....whatever gets him out of power.

Sachs isn't that guy and he would be appalled by some of your positions.

I think Greenwald has a point here.
The operation was based but there are major doubts over it actually being good for ordinary Americas at home, it isn't amongst the major drug traffickers to the US.....It's all Monroe Doctrine.

I want a job talking s*** about security at the UN. Or the EU, either will do. Whilst the USA and China act, we can carry on talking as much as we like. The UN is about as consequential as TK-Maxx without the USA. The EU defence is largely a budget on paper that will mainly be gone on admin and tax before any boots on the ground are ever seen. You can probably watch the forces continue to diminish whilst the leaders still rattle their plastic sabres. The word lame springs to mind but I'm thinking of a blind beggar more than an Americanism.

Probably not my best cover letter, but also not my worst.

RFK just delivered exactly what he promised and that is aligning the US core schedule with global best practices, focusing on the vital ones while restoring trust.

Maybe you can have a word with the EU then if you don't like their vaccine recommendations... recommendations which RFK has just aligned with.

A little bit of smallpox never did anyone any harm.
Only if you don’t mind a little bit of death!

I despair whenever I encounter vaccine sceptics. A few years ago I knew someone who died of TB because she lived somewhere where it was still commonplace and her family could not afford to have her vaccinated. By the time I became aware she was sick it was too late.

Not to derail the thread but that saying never made any sense to me. In that world keeping those who want to kill you close is a dangerous policy. Keeping them as far away as possible would be sensible. In those circles the likelihood was that you'd be killed by someone you knew well anyway without bringing your enemies into play.

I have listened several times to Sachs on his analysis of the buildup to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and his criticism of NATO. I respect him for that and acknowledge that he knows a great deal more about it than I do. That’s where it ends though. From the moment of the invasion until now I don’t see any difference in his analysis to mine.

He isn’t any more “anti-Trump” than I am. He is against many of the things that the Trump regime is doing, and sees enormous danger in the direction it is taking. Getting Trump out of power will never be enough! The whole damn bunch need to be democratically rejected and their paymasters scrutinised and prosecuted if corruption is found. I no more believe that the end justifies the means than I believe in Father Christmas. That’s Trumpian logic. I believe in the law. For everyone. Internationally too. So does Jeffrey Sachs.

Yep. Nothing anti-Trump there.
