Uefa Conference League

League is 36 teams.

First 8 will go to 1/16 stage. 9-24 will play against each other (2 legs) and 8 winners will join to 1/16.

So it really matters to be at top 8 to avoid extra 2 games.,
But we’ll take it if it comes to it.

Much is being said about winning it, but I’m just happy to have a few European nights at selhurst, obviously as Uphill mentions, as long as we make sure we do the job of qualifying against what looks like being the Norwegians

Which is why it was important we got in the other competition with bigger grounds .Our European tour will be reserved for the select few while the rest of us search out a pub showing TNT on Thursday afternoon /early evening .

With a bit of luck some bigger grounds will show up in the knock out stage
Not really, approx 85% have grounds with smaller capacity than us & we are one of the smallest in the EPL.

I read that the Norwegians average 3500 at home games, don’t know how accurate that is.
Once the players families /staff/directors take their seats, their won’t be many left.
. If the HF actually get priority, then parish and co are a c+nts (that should be taken to CAS) why the f++k should that get priority , if they’ve got the loyalty points that’s fine, if not get in the queue , f++cking balaclava , scarf waving mugs.
I did read that any teams with less than 6,000 capacity have to play at bigger grounds , so most of the Irish teams play at the national stadium 50,000, so that would be a blinder.
We could have had Rangers , Celta Vigo and Lazio.
We haven’t.
I’m going to all of them anyway. Giiiiiiid uppppp

The app… you all need the ‘app’ 😉

They average 8.552 in the league so would imagine a match in European competition would be a sell out ,especially against the FA Cup and Charity shield winners from South London 🙂

Clubs have to make available 5% of capacity to away supporters If, as it looks certain, we play Fredrikstad (13300c) that will mean 665 Palace fans, minus the 200 for the hf, 465 of those with 9/9.5k points at a rough guess.
Only 8,800 turned up for their game with Midjtylland so there might be room for a few more Palace. Maybe we'll get 10 per cent of capacity.

could someone tell us how it works - we're in the 4th qualifying round, if we get through we are in a league of 32, play eight games, the top 16 go through into knockout? Is that correct or is it a bit different? Willo, Palazio, anyone?

from my understanding:

in UEFA CONFERENCE:

Palace has to qualify for League Phase here in August by winning a 2-leg must-win matchup versus a Norwegian team.

If Palace advances, they make the 36-team League Phase--> 6 matches only, versus 6 different opponents.

After these 6 matches, if they finish in the Top-8, they make the Knockout Round of 16. If they finish 9 thru 24, they have to win a playoff to make that final 16.

And this is so effin idiotic, and makes the effin UEFA ruling so effin stupid, because:

in UEFA EUROPA:
"Notts Forrest" get automatically plopped into the effin League Phase (no effin qualifiers to play in effin August), and they get a guaranteed 8 matches (home and away versus 4 different good opponents). So that effin douche owner of Forest gets this sweetheart ruling in his favor, and he's an effin prikk.

What's the maximum prize? 6 million? Palace could probably ditch this Conference thing due to disrespect, tell UEFA to eff themselves, and piggy-back on some tourneys in the Americas... make more money with better exposure and eyeballs in NY and Miami and California than they'll be getting in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan...

Not quite. First round is the wobbly bridge. The eleven players have to cross the bridge. If any players fall in the water they have to start again. Then comes the peanut butter challenge. The less we say about that the better. Then it's a round robin of 15 teams where the 14th best team plays the 3rd best etc etc. Then there's a playoff for any team that fell off the wonky bridge. Then comes the league stage. The second best teams from League F and X play a semi final to see who has earned the rights to play a Scottish League One team in the final which goes straight to penalties if either team is ahead or level after 45 minutes.
That is superb, brilliant, you must have been a writer for the fast show 🤣

You missed out that you can only select players beginning with the letters U E F A under article 6 of the UEFA code as its our debut European season

So, for success in the Conference, we must play a ton of gruelling physical matches ? against a ton of teams with all the quality of Creepy Crawley ?

As a Prem outfit , You would wonder why we bother ? The injury-tally could be burdensome.

The mind boggles!! Our first chance of European football and a reasonable chance of at least going deep in the tournament maybe even winning it……but yes, why would we bother?? 🙄

What is positive from a playing rather than financial side is that there are two less games in the league phase in the conference league compared to the other competitions, so if we do well in those games and finish top 8 that's potentially four less games than a lot of Europa League sides (who finish 9-24).

I suppose the rationale for that might be that every team in the conference league have to go through a play off and/or qualifying of some description whereas in the UCL and UEL there are teams who go straight into the league phase.

Not quite true, yes the Europa League does not have a 'play-off' round, BUT, the CL & ECL do.
