Uefa Conference League

Having just looked at the teams in Conference have to say I've not heard of about 90% of them and the rest are not major clubs. Would be disappointed if we don't win this and rub Forest's nose in it when they get knock out at the 1st hurdle

I hope I haven't sounded like winning this is a foregone conclusion but it's potentially more winnable. So a big IF, but if we did go on to win this fielding some players that we probably wouldn't have in the EL (names mooted along the lines of Esse by others) we'll surely look back and say "well, we got another trophy without over taxing our paper thin squad and still get to play in the Europa League with an entire Summer transfer window to recruit players that would support it". I am rehashing what a load of people are already saying, but actually that's likely to be more favourable than going into the EL with zero recruitment and having a knackered Eze, Mateta, Sarr et al to support our Premier League campaign.

Well, isn't this wonderful? We're gonna need a bigger trophy cabinet. Oops, I said I wasn't getting presumptuous.
The trouble is, without EL football we are much more likely to lose Eze and Guehi and whoever else.

Given the size of some of these clubs and their grounds, it will be interesting to see how many tickets will be available. Not many I expect in many cases! Not so much the red and blue army, more the red and blue platoon!
Clubs have to make available 5% of capacity to away supporters If, as it looks certain, we play Fredrikstad (13300c) that will mean 665 Palace fans, minus the 200 for the hf, 465 of those with 9/9.5k points at a rough guess.

Before we start talking about the possibility of actually winning the Conference League (and some seem to think it will be a formality) we need to concentrate on the job in hand - namely winning the play off to actually get into the League.

It will be a terrible anti-climax if we fall at the first hurdle - instead of the majority of uncommitted fans staying sympathetic to our position we would suddenly become a laughing stock.

It won't happen if Glasner stays at the helm I am sure but I would be seriously worried if he left.

definitely not a formality and we will have to play the away leg, regardless of the opposition, on a plastic pitch.

could someone tell us how it works - we're in the 4th qualifying round, if we get through we are in a league of 32, play eight games, the top 16 go through into knockout? Is that correct or is it a bit different? Willo, Palazio, anyone?

Not quite. First round is the wobbly bridge. The eleven players have to cross the bridge. If any players fall in the water they have to start again. Then comes the peanut butter challenge. The less we say about that the better. Then it's a round robin of 15 teams where the 14th best team plays the 3rd best etc etc. Then there's a playoff for any team that fell off the wonky bridge. Then comes the league stage. The second best teams from League F and X play a semi final to see who has earned the rights to play a Scottish League One team in the final which goes straight to penalties if either team is ahead or level after 45 minutes.

League is 36 teams.

First 8 will go to 1/16 stage. 9-24 will play against each other (2 legs) and 8 winners will join to 1/16.

So it really matters to be at top 8 to avoid extra 2 games.

Which is why it was important we got in the other competition with bigger grounds .Our European tour will be reserved for the select few while the rest of us search out a pub showing TNT on Thursday afternoon /early evening .

With a bit of luck some bigger grounds will show up in the knock out stage

You forgot the final hurdle mate.
Have to putt a golf ball through the windmill at first attempt.
