Trepidation for the 26/27 Prem season ?

What a bunch of babies. We'll loose our first two games then go on a weird winning spree to finish in a Champions League spot then qualify for it anyway when we win the Europa League.

We'll also get knocked out of the FA Cup Preliminary Round to a non-league team and be the only team to win the League Cup after VAR is used in a penalty shoot out incorrectly.

Are you my long lost twin brother was thinking the same thing weird 🤣

The 'Transfer window feeding-frenzy' upon all our best players. It continues unabated.

On the first day of the new season, i am not sure if i will recognise ANY of the Eagles on the pitch. Apart from the usual under-performing feckers that i wish were not there.

I can't vouch for it as I've never used it but on paper it sounds promising. If anyone here has had international membership they might be able to chime in as to whether it really is as good as it sounds. I hope so though, good luck.
I grew up in West Croydon, but left the UK after Uni and currently live in Canada. The international membership is really excellent for a few quid. I get the Palace TV - (which causes me to watch the U_18's and U-21"s most weeks much to the mirth of my wife). We feel part of the CPFC family, we are able to get tickets for the couple of times we fly over to watch a game at Selhurst Park and it keeps us connected. I am truly grateful that the club offer us this package and without it I am sure it would have been more challenging to have got seats for the semi and cup final games - a lifetime memory!

Adding my 2 cents to this topic.

With Glasner gone and Lacroix too, feeling like everything good is being taken away from us it's easy to get disheartened, especially with reasonable doubts about the depth in quality and state of our squad and transfer business.

We should remember who is still here, The board and players, majority of whom helped get us FA Cup, community shield and Conference league trophies in a short period of time. This is something that can never ever be taken from us.

We have come off the back of our most successful period EVER but we are now at a stage of MASSIVE restructuring. Our squad looks reasonably worse than when we won the FA Cup. We have the development of the stand finally taking place 10 years in the making, We are getting our maiden voyage into the Europa League competition, and we have a month and a decent chunk of money to spend on transfers to bolster the squad without endangering the club via the new SCR system.

Can we get what we need to have a successful season? what constitutes a successful season for us now? Arguably we should be aiming at having a go at the Europa league and maintaining a decent position in the league but realistically so much has changed, from the team and the staff, to our expectations of them. Bad signings will happen, bad decisions will be made, but alongside those will be equally good ones, the likes of which got us to where we are today.

My only hope is that we remain in the premier league to see out this transitory period of stadium development, squad depth issues, transfer fiascos etc. I honestly thought we would have pulled a Wigan after the FA Cup. So as long as we stay in the prem we have a chance at improving all areas of our football club no matter how long or arduous the journey.

I have been in conversation with some supporters who are viewing the forthcoming season with trepidation.
Their expectations are not lofty and to them 'Success' will be retaining the club's position in the PL.To these disgruntled souls a finish in the top 10 is 'For the birds'.

I think we are very lucky to have Coventry, Hull and Ipswich in the Premier league this season, West ham and Wolves are better than the 3 promoted.

Willo,
i do mostly like you, but you are one negative sod.
please..we've not even finished business yet before a fresh start.

more silver awaits us.

Can't help shake the feeling we'll be looking for a new manager in 8 weeks time.

I hope I'm wrong but something is gnalwing away at me.
I think Sage could be the manager to take us up a level. Most teams are looking weaker & this is a manager that took on PSG with Lens and nearly came out on top...with Edouard uptop?! We need to have a bit of faith

With the greatest of respect, whilst have the proclivity to be a "Negative Sod" I was merely highlighting the views of supporters with whom I have been in conversation.
At this juncture they are not over-freighted with positivity and have concerns about the 'Direction of travel'.

Next time you have such a conversation you could point out that there have been two free-agent signings, Kamada and Mingueza; potentially a third, in Tomiyasu; and, hopefully, the return to fitness of Doucoure. Four experienced Premier League quality level players in without breaking the bank
And we have a manager, in Sage, who is surely the first we have hired coming off the back of finishing in second place for a team in one of the top 5 leagues. Plus he replaces a man who didn't want to be here

I suspect that should I articulate your comments, these "Negative sods" of a certain vintage would respond with "Doing everything on the cheap" !

As one of the ‘negative sods’ I would say Kamada was here last season so it not an addition, Mingueza is totally unproven at Premier League level and Tomiyasu and Doucoure have had injury problems meaning it’s a big step to assume that they can become first team regulars this season (also Tomiyasu hasn’t signed yet).

I understand the need to try and retain positivity but surely there has to be some realism, particularly taking into account the quality of players leaving like Guehi and Lacroix.

Tomiyasu injury record :
  • Knee Surgeries & Issues (2024–2025): Missed over 225 days following major right knee surgery in February 2025, after multiple setbacks originating from a 2024 pre-season injury. Also missed time during the 2022–23 season for separate knee surgery (108 days).
  • Calf Strains (2021–2024): Sidelined multiple times during his Arsenal career by recurring left and right calf issues, keeping him out for stretches of 61 days (21/22 season), 45 days, and 28 days (23/24 season).
  • Hamstring & Muscle Setbacks (2019–2026): Suffered various muscular and hamstring problems across his spells in Italy, England, and the Netherlands, including a 37-to-41 day absence in 2019/20 and minor 2025/26 fitness interruptions.

After skunking £85 million up the wall on two average players in January is anyone surprised?
I expect spending that much in one window has taken years of SP’s life 🤣
