Tory wife Imprisoned for race hate.

So it isn't the police who make the decision as per your original assertion.
As every prisoner is under the control of the Governor of the prison they are in that must be where the decision ultimately rests. Whether in reality it’s where it’s made is another matter.

What I said was you would need to ask the police as I assumed it was them who made the decision. Why might that be? There will doubtless be several reports made before any prisoner is granted leave and in high profile ones like this I would anticipate that the one from the police would be pre-eminent. Their input being concerned with the security implications.

It would be a brave, and very foolish, governor who decided to ignore advice that suggested a release was unsafe. They would pause action and try to find ways to make it safe.

Just to remind everybody that this country has a two tier justice system.

It seems to me that the only reason the daughter and the sick husband are being denied the opportunity to spend time with the convict is the furore being stirred up by the right makes it unsafe.

I hope, and expect, that unpublicised quiet arrangements have been, or are being, made so that this can happen undisturbed by media attention.

What you said was
you would need to ask those responsible, presumably the police, for refusing it
To repeat. What will happen when she is eligible for release?

Presumably responsible!

Which related to the temporary, presumably supervised, release to maintain family contact.

You can be responsible for a decision, even if you aren’t the final link in the chain that delivers it. Presumably!

When she is eligible for release she must be released. Where and how is another question. Hopefully it will be done carefully and securely away from the attention of the media and political activists trying to make trouble.

What she wrote was horrible, although whether it deserved a custodial sentence is debatable, but should anyone be treated differently because of expected media attention?

Both of them should have been warned.

Jailing people for emotional tweets that didn't lead to violence is going too far.

As it is the difference in treatment is shocking.....it's not the country I was raised in.

That's what this country is now. It's abused the freedom of speech that its greatness was once built upon.

Both its government and judiciary system favour groups, both ethnic and politically tribal.....based upon ideology.....over other ethnic and politically tribal groups.

The beginnings of the sectarianism that its politics was always going to create.

“Set fire to all of the f*cking hotels full of the bastards”

By the way, your truncated sentence of what she said misses out, 'for all I care'.

It wasn't a command, it was an ugly observation...which she later deleted.... of what she felt they deserved.

Tom Harwood.....Not a conservative of which I'd agree with on that much.....doesn't think much of her conviction and the comments of the judge.

Dan also conveniently forgot to mention the sentence about the families. She is a mother and I would hope every mother/parent in the land was repulsed by the act of barbarism which targeted young, defenceless girls.

Convict! What is this the 18th century? Perhaps transportation should have imposed 🤣
