Years ago I read an article by a legal journalist. He claimed that within legal circles certain courts had a reputation, if you wanted an establishment judge try this court, a lenient judge (they all are these days) that court. If you were a Scouse celebrity on trial for tax evasion you definitely wanted your trial in Liverpool etc. I forget which court but he stated that there was a court in East London / Essex? where the number of guilty verdicts was the lowest in the country. You'd definitely want your case at that court.
So if the establishment want a guilty verdict you don't need to fix the jury, just appoint the right judge in the right court it's not full proof but you've nudged the trial your way. In the case of Robinson pick an inner city court, the jury pool is bound to be diverse and make sure you throw the R word into the mix.
