Agreed re squad depth and we got lucky in the second half of last season with the form and fitness of certain players (Munoz; the back three; Eze/Sarr/Mateta).Why are you talking about a first XI for..??
You’re allowed 5 subs - the game is now a 16 player game, beyond that you never heard of injuries - they do happen you know..!! Look at Nketiah - now out for 6 weeks..!!
We’re now in Europe potentially another 15 games, we need a squad with quality in depth to cope with that, injuries and the ability to seamlessly rotate - so that when you make a change it makes no difference to the strength of the team on the pitch..!!
Disagree - if everyone stays there are probably 7 that would be difficult to replace but the likes of Richards, Mitchell, Kamada and Sarr, could be replaced with better players..!! Do that and they drop to the bench then you have quality in depth..!!
The squad is nowhere near that ATM - so get your head around that..!!

Two aspects which could be relevant to this window beyond the "who stays/who is going?" dynamic:
1. There could be a couple of academy players who could do a job, even if not first choices, in some of these positions. Glasner has mentioned in preseason that "one or two are close" to the starting XI. Could these be academy players? He might be bigging up some egos or it might be that a new first teamer emerges by surprise.
2. The board and manager might think that loans are a good way to fill out the squad if the first team shirt for that position is nailed down. Chillwell, Turner, and initially Chalobah are all evidence of this strategy. So one or two late loan signings might be planned to fill out a currently threadbare looking squad.
