Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

There are plus points and minus points in anything but it's incredibly poor how we've left one of our options for a front three as between Edouard, Rak-Sakyi, Devenny and Esse. None are acceptable replacements for Eze, which is exactly what Glasner is thinking.
Edouard: not worth really talking about. Why waste our breath? He doesn't.
Rak-Sakyi: could probably do an average job on the right. Maybe as a sub. But what then? Put Sarr on the left? Why?
Esse: we all saw the manager berate him for show boating. And he's barely played. This is where I'd question Ollie and youngsters. He's the best option of what we have.
Devenny: played against Fredrikstad, was very average. Is a hard worker and busts a gut. We like that. But he's not strong, skillfull or visionary. He has a good mentality but probably not his position. I'm wondering what his position is these days: Jack of all trades.

To have our only left sided attacker leave with no realistic back up is pretty pathetic. I would be majorly pissed if I were Glasner. We've left him with a couple of Aldi middle aisle circular cutting tools to cut girders.

He said getting numbers in was easy, he wants the right player/players.

Could he be having much more of a say and what’s been offered he just doesn’t fancy?
If that means Glasner stops us making more deals like spending £30m on Nketiah - I still don't understand how he is meant to fit into a system based on a strong no.9 to hold up the ball supported by the pace and creativity of two No. 10s - then good on him!

No idea if we were in for Dibbling but in any event he's apparently off to Everton in a £42 million deal.
It was rumoured that we had switched our attention from El Khanouss to Dibbling.
At this rate we might be grateful for Sterling on loan if it's between playing him or Edouard.
I’d take it right now. At least it’s another body in the squad, and one with considerable talent on his day. It would be something, in a sea of nothing.

Right now we need numbers. Earlier in the window we might’ve been more picky, but the chance to be picky gets slimmer and slimmer as the clock ticks.

Sterling is an odd one - he's only 30 and has been in apparent decline for 2 years+ but he's got 82 caps and is a very skilful player and just because he hasn't really worked out at Chelsea and Arsenal doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't be good with us. As a loan option he could do a job if we could get a tune out of him. Admittedly that might be a big if but the potential upside makes him worth it to me.

Yeah, I’m 100% with you on that. It could, just maybe, make sense as a deal now.

The only down side is we take all the risk, and if it does pay off, we won’t have much chance to make it permanent at the end. But that’s not a terrible problem to have as it would mean we’d gone some of the way towards fixing the current one for this season.

P.S. just seen that El Khanouss wasn’t involved in the Leicester 20 yesterday. Anything can be read into that?

Probably that he's off to Tottering Hotsperm for a few months.

I look at it this way. Is he better than the options we have in the squad. The answer is unequivocally a yes. He also has a much higher ceiling. He’s miles ahead of JRS and Edouard. He’s better than Deveney in forward positions. Esse may have potential but that’s what it is right now and seemingly there is a problem with attitude in OG’s eyes. As a loan it would be a decent option

Agreed with this. Yes it’s a temporary fix but so inept has our transfer window been that we now just need options to see us through the next few months

A bit of south London love could do wonders for sterling.

Loan till January and if it's working then just extend the loan. Wages an issue but then you aren't paying a fee to buy.

At last some Business done..!!

Yeremy looks a very decent signing - Spanish International only 22 and £26M - when you look at Tyler Dibling £40M to Everton and Fernandes £40M to West Ham - Yeremy seems a great bit of Business..!!

Looks like Canvot all but done too - only 19 great potential wanted by Villa and Leipzig - but looks like we’ve beaten them to the punch..!! Looks another very good signing at £20M..

Now all really depends on what happens with Guehi - OG came out today and said too late in the window to sell him/replace him - time will tell..!!

If Guehi goes - do we go back in for Diomande - would be another great signing piece of Business if we could pull it off..!!

Then need another “10” - click bait suggesting we’re in for Baumgartner from Leipzig - don’t know much about him..!!

Then a CDM - loads of noise about Gallagher - but he’s on £200K a week at Atleti and he’s 27 - personally I’d go Hayden Hackney - younger, loads of potential and would be cheaper..!!

On Guehi - personally I’d get him gone providing we can sign a suitable replacement in time - ala Diomande..!!

Even if we do all that whilst we’d have recruited real quality and added significant depth 2 out and 7 in - not counting the also runs we’ve let go..!!

It would still be a poor window - as Business done all too late again so becomes disruptive - when will SP ever learn..!!

All that said future looking rosier than yesterday..!!

I think you've shown exactly why SP has been late - namely picked up a quality player at a very reasonable price compared to most of the fees paid for pretty average or unproven players this window plus another quality player almost through the door. at a decent price.

The emphasis is on bringing in players who will strengthen the squad rather than make up the numbers - in other words quality not quantity.

Glasner has said on a number of occasions that he doesn't want a big squad and that he wants quality not numbers brought in.

There may still be one or two more to come through the door before 19.00 on Monday.

Yes timing hasn't been great but had we moved earlier would we have had to spend more to get the same level of quality that is now being brought in?

We can't compete financially with most of the clubs in the PL but we can be smart in our financial dealings.

And yes it is frustrating waiting till virtually the last minute until we get players in.

Yes Mate but it’s so disruptive - look at us on Thursday couldn’t even name a full bench - even with 2 keepers..!!

And we could have easily lost last night - then where we would have been - all the progression down the pan..!!

We’re now 2 Prem games into the season and arguably 2 games we could have won with a stronger more in depth squad..!!

I get the whole reasonable price thing - and when’s the right time to go and when it isn’t..!!

That said I’m not buying that these deals couldn’t have been done sooner at the same cost..!!

When it gets to this late stage it becomes a game of brinksmanship - and that can go either way and there’s far too much at stake for that..!!
