The Politics of 'Climate-change'

The only reality about Climate change is this :

those who strongly pedal the story have been caught lying , deceiving, and spinning every other story. So why believe them now ?

When you tell me a man can participate in a women's boxing match AND climate change boo hoo......it makes me believe neither. Ever noticed that a) the louder the shouting about climate means b) Looney Lefty antifa type incoming.....

You can dispute from now until the next ice age but you will still be wrong. The effect we are witnessing has nothing to do with natural change. It’s a sideshow. An irrelevant diversion.
Nice one "Mr I am never wrong " and anyone who disagreed with me is an idiot! I am in Dubai right now there are so many cars here that even if the UK went net zero tomorrow it would make absolutely NO DIFFERENCE !
Was exactly the same in Sri Lanka

That ice age arrived quickly.

Aside the fact that eruptions tend to actually have a cooling effect and not a warming one, and a TEMPORARY one, even in extreme examples only 2 or 3 seasons, the long term carbon cycle of volcanicity and plate tectonics doesn't fit with the recent change in atmospheric gas, in any way.

You know what does fit the trend perfectly though? Burning oil and coal. Yup, that absolutely does.

Well aside the fact that we are f***ed and it's too late, yes it would make a difference. And it doesn't mean that we should carry on with this utterly shite old and stinking power source.

We must congratulate the oil giants for a thoroughly successful disinformation campaign.

The third world and developing countries won't give a fig about that.

Climate control/environmentalism is usually the domain of the left.....though not always (original Greenpeace for example).

However, the actual implications of what they want would involve classical imperialism, as asking nicely won't work.

They must have addressed that but all I hear about is how the west must go back to the dark ages or else....which is about as likely as these vegans lifting weights and winning Mr Universe.

Given that scientists had been reporting this for 50 years can you tell us the point at which these scientists started advocating putting women into the ring with Mike Tyson?

Turning this into a culture war was a great move by the oil guys. Everyone has swallowed it because they like to show the world what independent thinkers they are, which is ironic.

They do give a s***, it's the availability of western credit at an affordable rate is more the issue.

Whether warming or cooling it's all Climate Change. No one is disputing the role of fossil fuels but all I'm saying is that there is some contribution, however small it may be, from natural causes.
That's it.
No fervent wish to destroy the planet or see the oceans boiling or any other dystopian scenario.

So classical imperialism then.

All it needs is a justification they personally believe in and they will enact the same behaviours.....colour me about as surprised as an uneaten chocolate bar at a weight watchers meeting.

As for 'culture war', well that's just about every single group where they can derive an advantage, left, right or whatever......If you want principles go visit some school heads.

Sure but but those banging the net zero drum aren't disputing that.

I don't really care what it is. Pathetic human squabbles is what it is. We sorted out the ozone hole through international agreement in no time, but I guess there was no money in it.

I see it all as stinking inefficient old tech that should be replaced and there would be many upsides, but lobbying is too successful. We can't live like this anyway, too many people consuming too much, and mother nature will simply make a correction in the end.

I rather think technology will eventually do that.

If they are going to develop tech to terraform Mars atmospherically then it's just a matter of when something starts here.....and I should imagine that's just one of several approaches that will be looked at.

However the promotion of wearing significant hair-shirts.....complete waste of energy even mentioning it.

You'd need world wide communism....which is about as popular as a rancid fart in a confessional box.

Why get so embroiled at semantics like that? It clearly is a big issue and it clearly is overwhelmingly caused by burning fossil fuels.
At least being embroiled in semantics is a different charge from being a pedant. Or a pendant.
Why get so upset about an issue you can't affect? Live in a cave wearing clothes made out of your own hair and eating ethically sourced moss and see how much difference it makes.
