Highly unlikely, there are only two events that would cause the US to invade Iran, Iran invades Turkey or Iran builds a man portable nuclear weapon (basically and Iranian version of the US SADM) that they employ in the United States.

Neither of which are probably going to happen as while the Iranians can be dumb, they are not completely stupid.

Most likely is that the Iranian regime survives, it is announced that Mojtaba Khamenei has "died of complications" and the announcing of the new Supreme Leader. The IRGC stays in actual control. The Iranian economy stays stuck as they have limited engagement with their neighbors. Iran won't have the money for a nuclear program but it will be discussed that they "could" have a nuclear weapon quickly if they chose to.

I'm curious how you would have de-escalated WW2. I've spent a fair amount of time brain storming this with academics and I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it.

If the US joints Hitler's side, it would be similar to his Japanese partnership, a temporary alliance before he can fight against them as well. One someone views themselves as being better simply because of the color of their skin then it limits their options for who can join their team and who they can play well with over the long haul.

The US wasn't really ready for war until 1942, still too much build up going on despite the massive growth in the Army and Navy. It's large, but it doesn't really have the expeditionary capability that it needed until the Navy builds they started in 1939 started coming out of the shipyards in 42.

On a separate point I am hearing right wing commentators discussing democrats as "communist" and "anti American" without the slightest suggestion of irony or awareness of what those terms actually mean.

FDR understood that he wasn't going to get a war with Germany without the German's causing it. That is the theory behind why he had the US War Plans leaked days before Pearl Harbor. While the bombs were dropping, Hitler was reading the US plan, which is why he declared war.

I really wish I could say that they are wrong, but unfortunately they are closer to reality with their commentary then I would like them to be. They are referring to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which on the surface looks proclaims itself to be socialist but is in reality more communist in nature. The only real difference with the DSA is that they know that most of the US won't go for communist policies so they are pretending that they just want Nordic type social safety systems to get their nose under the tent. Once they are able to gain power, then they will ban the other parties like good communists.

Now is it the Democrat Party writ large? No. No more then MAGA is the Republican Party. But extremists make the news so those small sub cultures take on larger influence because they get more air time. he DSA currently has around 150,000 members, but they all show up at primary time so they have more influence inside of the party then they should.

Every generation feels the need to try out communism by convincing themselves that previous generations just didn't do it right. In the US, it festers in our thousands of colleges and universities with professors who are eloquent in their praise and have perfected their brainwashing of morons.
