The Caring Left

Children in a NHS hospital in Scotland, including cancer patients, are being refused a free education on the wards because they attend private schools. Parents have been told to pay £115 an hour for the one-to-one tutoring that state-school children receive for free. This for children whose parents have paid taxes that supposedly funds their treatment in hospital. The Left continue to plumb new depths in callousness.

That's crazy!

Paying for a service you're excluded from.

The State refuses to provide free education to some kids in hospital. Shocking.

how much money does the State pay for translators ? especially for police & Court matters ? but also for matters relevant to Benefits and all that ?

Trump got it enshrined in the US that the language for all is English. No ifs no buts. Go Trump.

Would anyone on the Left here care to justify what the hospital is doing?

Well given you have provided absolutely no link and no evidence to back it up I’ve had to try and find it myself.

Appears to be a long standing policy (from the Tories) that continuing education for kids in hospital is linked to the state curriculum and therefore educators know where state school kids are in their education and development.

Private schools have their own syllabus and they vary school to school and year group to year group. And the school fees parents pay are meant to include an element of insurance for the school to be able to fund continuing education for any long term sick pupils from.

Who ever would have thought there was more to this then ‘Labour refuses to pay private school cancer kids’ education’.

Almost Orwellian in its distortion and manipulation of the truth. Which is ironic given the OP.

Utter you know what. Hospitals in England are not doing it, it appears to be limited to the Peoples' Republic of Scotland. The Left are a disgrace, always trying to conjure up some preposterous excuse for their malevolence.

Well why have you not backed up your claim with a single shred of evidence?

Like what? I have given the name of the hospital and their action has been widely reported. It's because of the curriculum - dear, oh, dear.

No you haven’t. ‘An NHS hospital in Scotland’. Check your post.

Come on Orwell boy. Stop distorting the truth.

Also, ‘widely reported’ appears to be this article:

Which itself quotes a Daily Mail article:

People can read that for themselves and make up their own minds.

OK, I thought I had, I must have edited my initial draft. It is Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh. Keep clutching at those straws.

So you agree with a Tory decision. This must keep you awake at night danh.

Do you think it is acceptable for sick childrens' parents to be charged for a service in a NHS hospital because the children normally attend a fee-paying school?
I would wonder whether the school should pay since the fee for the term has already been paid but the service not provided.

It’s also covered by their insurance.

Good to see George advocating for more government spending though. Let’s hope it continues.

The NHS is supposed to provide it's services to everyone on an equal basis. It's just another example of the Left's hypocrisy - all patients are equal, but some are more equal than others.

By the way, I do very much agree with this statement. You just positioned it horribly to make a political point without giving any background or context.
