The above quote is taken from the classic novel A Tales of two cities, by Charles Dickens

2025
FA cup winners
Community Shield winners
19 game unbeaten run
Competing in Europe.
Playing our best football since the Steve Coppell era.

2026
Humiliated in the FA cup ( no disrespect Macclesfield)- a totally justified and deserved win.

Manager having a melt down - in the full glare of the world media ( suggesting a total breakdown in a working relationship between team manager and ownership of club)
This has an obvious negative effect on on members of the playing staff, as this is self evident in personal and team results and performance.

Possible relegation candidates ( But I think we’ve just enough points on the board! Just !)

Upon reflection I recon Charles Dickens would make a classic fan of Palace!

COYP!!!

If Glasner resigns therefore waiving a pay off it will be a far, far better thing than he has ever done, and his time off will be a far, far better rest than he has ever known. And for book worms may I recommend the true story of how Samantha Fox paid to have her breasts insured: 'A Sale of Two Titties'.

Funnily enough I was having similar thoughts myself this weekend (not the Dickens bit).
I think we'll muddle through the rest of the season and have enough to stay in the League but will exit Europe .
Most of the players are about 10-20% off what they were last season.
The relentless focus has gone.
Unsurprisingly heads have dropped on the back of only one win in a couple of months and the confidence is brittle.
It no longer looks like a group working towards a common goal which is unsurprising with some of the group already planning their next moves for next season.
I already have a feeling that I just want the season out of the way which is an unfamiliar one so early in the season.

Might possibly become an anaconda. 😉

A decent assessment. Although I still dont buy into the hysteria that we will even become properly involved in a relegation battle let alone need to survive one.
What upsets me is we had a huge opportunity to build on last season and not enough has been done to give us a chance of making that happen. Thats been talked to death. The owners, Glasner, even some of the players have to own a bit of responsibility for that but we are where we are.
I'd rather a hand shake a respectful thanks from both sides a Glasner moved on but the owners decided Glasner will not be getting a pay off and that they clearly dont want to be forced into making a quick decision on the next manager. In view of this I believe we'll pick up enough points to stay up and will probably finish somewhere close to where we are now. 11th to 14th. I dont imagine we'll win the Conference League (mainly because Glasner doesn't know how to unlock a low block defence and all the teams in this competition seem to play that way) so its probably going to be a case of wait for the season to end, see who comes in next and we go again next season.
