The bbc, again.

Yes, high quality programmes like EastEnders, RuPaul's Drag Race, Celebrity Traitors, Celebrity Race Around the World, etc. No one wants to see them being driven down market.

oh cmon. Eastenders is brilliant. And so similar to the real London Borough of Newham.

i kid you not. I challenge you to get totally wasted and then watch it. feckin hilarious. Its the only Comedy on BBC that is actually funny.

But that's a documentary isn't it? All those salt of the earth chirpy Cockernees always helping everyone out and murdering each other.

Yes combined with a wider understanding of how many people don't actually need a licence.
BBC have collected a lot of fees based on ignorance in the past.
How many poor people have been dragged into court pleading guilty and fined?

I do pay my licence fee, much to my disgust, because I don't want to spend my life in court or dealing with threatening letters and visits. However If I was in that situation in court I would plead not guilty. If the magistrate asked me to explain myself I would politely point out that the law says I am innocent until proven guilty and that it is for the BBC to prove I have broken the law not for me to prove my innocence.

I suspect that the BBC has no evidence so cannot prove it.

The only evidence they can cite is what someone says to incriminate themselves.

Which is why saying nothing other than "I don't watch live TV and don't need a TV licence" is the best option.

That said, I would still avoid having an iplayer account, because that can in theory be traced.

Agreed. The BBC rely on self incrimination. I would go even further and say nothing at all.

If it looked like the magistrate was going to rule in favour of the BBC I would ask on what basis pointing out that the BBC are proven liars so taking their word (without evidence) for anything is a bit odd.

This is appalling treachery towards a cherished national institution. All such fifth column opinion should be punished by it's perpetrators being paraded though the streets then burned at the stake with no appeal. And if these quislings aren't smoke free a further fine should be imposed.
All honourable licence payers should have a tattoo across their forehead so fellow patriots can applaud them as they go about their day.

I would not take that path.

Strict liability.

Paid - no fine.

Not paid - fine.

No further evidence necessary and motive etc. irrelevant.

Suggest you watch a YouTube vid on how it all works. They prosecute and fine without you there, but to avoid you just ignore them and don't speak to them. Just shut the door saying "no thanks, goodbye" and that's it.
