It's crazy that you have to prove you don't want a licence. I don't recall having to prove I don't want a fishing or gun licence and in fairness those organisations have never chased me about it.

So what gives the BBC the right to bully people. If they believe he is breaking the law then prove it in court.

Demands, or requests? You only can demand something that you have a legal right to. You can request cooperation but not demand it.

I suspect they are encouraging you to review your viewing habits to ensure you remain lawful. If you are then there’s nothing of concern or any need to respond.

If however they aren’t then the BBC cannot be accused of not trying to advise you, should you be prosecuted. There are ways these days of knowing what is being viewed in specific locations and, eventually, some examples will be made.

So glad I don’t have to deal with this any longer. I pay for the channels I want to watch (which includes some BBC channels).

Peacock/NBC (left leaning but that allows some balanced news in my life) and all Palace games live. Life is good!

Yes, high quality programmes like EastEnders, RuPaul's Drag Race, Celebrity Traitors, Celebrity Race Around the World, etc. No one wants to see them being driven down market.

They cater for a wide range of tastes as the national broadcaster. I don’t watch them either but I do watch the quality programmes. Programmes that would be unlikely to be made by a commercial broadcaster.

However, it’s the news and current affairs output which is really vital.

I meant was placing the contract, with the private company just acting on their behalf. Not sending the letters themselves.

A tipping point is being reached where the licence fee is (starting) to become unenforceable. Some of it is people evading paying the tax whilst many young people simply don't use the service and prefer Youtube.

So I would say that even fans of the BBC would admit the more scandals the more likely it is that people will stop paying. We are getting closer to a Poll Tax revolt.
