That Billion+ pound club

Heart-warming news coming out of Chelsea, they have decided to donate part of their World club cup winnings....to the family of Diogo Jota!
I am really lost for words.

I really hope that is a joke and not serious.

If it is serious its straight up ridiculous give a millionaires family even more money when there are other families in this country struggling and the money they would give this one family could go towards thousands.

I do feel for Jota family because of it being his fault breaking the law resulting in his plus brothers death I don't expect they will get insurance payout.

Do you always start your days with such a sunny disposition?

Nope, not a joke I'm afraid.

Could've been a tad worse if they'd donated to Trump who is their number one fan apparently.

At it again, it never seems to end.
  • Gittens: €65 million - 7 years (sorry in Euros / pounds mix, I didn't feel like working out the conversion)
  • Pedro: £60 million
  • Delap: £30 million - 6 years
  • Dario Essugo: £18.5 million
  • Geovany Quenda: £44 million
  • Estevao: €34 million
  • Mamadou Saar: €14 million
  • Kendry Paez: €10 million

It's ok they'll sell that hotel to themselves again to cover it off

Lincoln City taking it to them tonight (so far). Ex-Palace academy player Rob Street starting for Lincoln.

Edited, he scored! Honestly, Chelsea look terrible. Remember Gittens, weren't we in for him? Forgot he still plays for Chelsea, but he's had 4 or 5 touches tonight.

Just had this come up via my Youtube Algorithm, it's part of a series of podcasts outlining the finances within sport and this particular episode is about the sh!t show currently unravelling at Chelsea FC.

Well presented and insightful, so worth a watch as it explains quite clearly the problems now facing this particularly unpleasant football club.

At least the club world championship was completely not just to bail out big clubs. Who won it?

It's a meaningless gesture. Among the transfers under investigation were Hazard, Eto'o, Matic, Willian and Luiz. How much did they win with those players in their team and considering they made some £70 m profit on Hazard they'll be laughing at this "penalty".

The Champions league win falls within this period (2011-2018. I wander if UEFA will be looking to take this further?

Nothing of any significance will happen to Chelsea and nothing particularly significant will happen to Man City. Although a bit of media spin will be released (paid for) about how they've been roundly punished.
The Chelsea suspended transfer embargo won't happen either. If similar is done to Man City too and it sticks (I expect the transfer embargo to be lifted on appeal) then they'll both just do their business beforehand or find a loophole or some other way.
