Relying on last minute deals as a fundamental(and only?) strategy seems flawed to me.
You may get lucky on occasions but the pressures can work against you.
Clubs now know we have the money from the Eze sale and that we need a replacement.
The market also moves e.g if Wolves now want to keep Hwang because Larsen is going, if Leicester no longer need to sell El Khannouss as they have made other sales in recent days.
It's supply and demand.
Sure, some of these pressures may move in our favour too, but from the outside it gives the appearance of looking at the final clearance bargains.
