Borna Sosa, Pino & Uche is a pretty fcuking s*** start at a time when we were at our most attractive for signing players.

Congrats to Macclesfield they deserved it!!

Embarrassing performance from us and I honestly don't know how much more I can take of watching Pino & Sosa.

Sosa at 2.5m was only ever a backup, it would be better if we had a promising youngster coming through at LB, but does seem to be car.

UChe is not really a natural centre forward, he started at Getafe as a midfielder.

Pino is just about most continental player I have ever seen at Palace. He is just not suited to English football. Can Esse really be worse ?

I thought it was Parish working from Freedman’s portfolio with Moody’s help. Hobbs only joined recently.

I thought it was Parish working from Freedman’s portfolio with Moody’s help. Hobbs only joined recently.

Parish did allude to being slow himself in the summer as he did the deals and he explained that is why he moved quickly to get Hobbs in after that.

I think with Johnson it just became known that Spurs wanted to sell (as it was for the exact same money that they still owed Forest for him) rather than us scouting him or making a long term plan to get him.

He was their last season’s top scorer but the new manager didn’t want him and he was an easy sale to get some money in for transfers and PSR.

In the summer, we sold STAR PLAYER Eberechi Eze for £60million plus add-ons.

And spent £50million on four players. So our net spend was minus £10million. (Edit: QPR got a sell-on fee from the Eze transfer). In a season where we are competing in Europe as FA Cup winners!

Walter Benitez on a free has been a good signing.

Even though Borna Sosa only cost £3m, he has been poor.

Yeremy Pino for £26m has shown flashes of quality but is inconsistent and maybe not a good fit for the rigours of the Prem.

Jaydee Canvot cost £21m! He has the potential to be a decent player but he is 19 and not ready for the first team right now. I'd rather have that money spent on someone ready for the team.

Christantus Uche on loan.

So it's not just the lack of spending but the quality of signings have been questionable.

Why does two players being similar matter? Our whole game is based on speed in transition, counter attacking and players running in behind off JPM. Sarr and Johnson fit that bill perfectly and would give opponents something to think about on both sides of the pitch. Our game has never been based around tika taka, short passing and playing in front of opposing defences which is what Pino should be good at in theory. I say in theory because he doesn’t do it very well for us. He’s also lightweight and useless in the air which you can’t say about Sarr.

I think it is clear that when spending significant money our policy is to sign younger players or at least players no older than their mid 20s. That way they have big sell on value if it works out like Eze and Olise. However, buying younger players is always a gamble. Some work and some don’t. At the moment Pino isn’t working but hopefully that improves. Canvot certainly has enormous potential but is also prone to bad moments and games. Definitely not ready to be a regular part of the first team.

Uche is a real head scratcher but we may have an option to get out of it depending on what you read. Sosa is just rubbish. Every performance has been poor and we should move him on.

Exactly!!!! Sarr gets goals, causes problems with his pace and is far better than Pino at keeping the ball and not giving it away cheaply with silly flicks to nobody. If we can get him and Johnson running ahead of Mateta and causing chaos in the final third then I’m sure that teams will less likely face them than a player who quite often struggles to get a football under control let alone find teammates or get shots away.

And I do hope Pino proves me wrong but at the moment I feel he will probably leave in the summer and go down in our history as another big money signing that didn’t work out.
