Simon Jordan to watch Palace game first time in 15 years

Just a better businessman. Parish built up a solid business over a period of time. Jordan was a spiv who got lucky in mobile phones.

Anyone who sets up a business and sells it for 75m deserves respect. You can ask most entrepreneurs and they will say a fair amount is down to luck, quite often being in the right place at the right time is all it takes.

Napoleon was always a big believer in "lucky" generals.

Jordan was lucky in the sense he sold the business at the top of the market. Since then companies independent of the big mobile carriers, like Carphone Warehouse have gone to the wall.

These days most people buy their phone from a major phone company often online. The only independents tend to be one man bands.

Whether that was luck or Jordan saw it coming and got out we will never know.

He still ran our club into the ground though.

He's marmite I know but I like Simon Jordan. He's matured and despite his sometimes confrontational approach, he now thinks a bit more. For the record I have equal regard for Steve Parrish. Both, in their own way put their heart and soul into the club. Better than some couldn't care less US investors (wait a minute!) who appoint some near useless local Chief Executive to do their bidding.
SJ was one of the first to call out the rise of agents. So I hope you and your son have a nice afternoon Simon even if the hospitality is being extended by Fulham.

My view is he ran our club to the best of his ability and of course he made some mistakes.
He had no previous experience and even if he had, each club has its own challenges.
Give the guy some credit. He put his money up and had a go.

Spot on, without any of these fella’s Noades, Jordan or Parish having a go at it we wouldn’t have a club at all. I enjoyed SJ’s time in charge, it was never dull with him at the helm, well apart from the team under Peter Taylor 🤣

Peter Taylor signed Leon Cort.
It was rumoured that Warnock did not like Cort as a player as he rarely got booked and Warnock does not like such central defenders !

If it wasn’t for his vendetta against Parish and the way he thinks/speaks so highly about his own time as our steward, I’d rate him for doing it. But he overrates himself (his ego could fill the Thames) and has a terrible opinion of the current regime which is simply a lot better at it than he ever was.

All of our previous owners from noades on wards to now have actually been in it for the club. I mean the public owners,Yes they got money out but generally feel the pain like us fans. We can be thankful for that otherwise we could be like the clowns or Blackpool et al. Look at wolves with their sell the best for dough mentality. Just my tuppence worth 😁

I'm pretty sure in SJ's book he said that he was unhappy that Parish didn't come in and help bail him out and that this was made worse when he used a third-party to secure the purchase of the club for a reduced fee (or something like that). I have to say, my opinion of SJ plummeted after reading his book. He came across as a complete narcissist.
That’s not how I remember it, Parish approached Jordon and had far more information about the situation with Agilo than he should have done and SJ believed that SP and PA were in cahoots to get him out.

SJ believes that SP was talking to Agilo and had some influence in them putting into administration. personally I can’t see why the hedge fund would want to help SP get Palace on the cheap and lose the best part of £8m to do it.

It was unbelievable they Agilo forced us into administration when SJ had offered to personally cover the debt and the window was coming up when palace were always going or sell Victor Moses and this would have covered a far bigger portion of the debt than what Agilo received from the Administration.

I allways thought that Phil Alexander was probably the issue and he didn’t like SJ and I don’t think there is much doubt that he was talking to and helping SP before and during Administration possibly illegally. I also don’t believe that SP never really wanted to own Palace as he has stated again and again.

Still let’s look where we are now and whilst SJ did undoubtedly shaft Jordan and Phil Alexander was undoubtedly a snake and protecting his own arse above all else in some way the club is in a far better position for it.

He didn’t very well building the business up yes sure he was a bit lucky with right time and right place but he took the risk and put in the hours and took the risks to grow the business. The genius part was how he sold it as he had a legal obligation to sell if it hit I think £35m and split it 50/50 with his partner he had EE bidding against themselves from £40m to £75m and he split the £35m and kept everything above or that is how I read it.

100% nonsense.

Jordan owned the club 100% (SP at the most had 25% and he got it for almost 0)

Lets look at it as today SJ has far more wealth over SP who has gained most of his via Palace.

What you should have said is that SP has been smarter at navigating the dirty waters of the football world and is good and tricking other people into buying into his lies.
