Now please don’t think I am being a pessimist. We look amazing tonight. Kamada has looked like Kevinde Bruyne, Pino looks class, our front two look amazing… but this mob are not at the races.

I worry though that what we are seeing is these players true level. You can see there are players in there but they can be found wanting with the power and pace of the Premier League.

I want to believe these boys will step up now and kick on and add real value to the squad because we are going to need them all. Uche looks really good and maybe just need some minutes. With Munoz and JP out we will need them all to step up. We will need all of them firing to get through the next crazy weeks of football for us.

Would love to see Esse get some decent minutes in tonight too. I would take Pino off and save him for Sunday along with Wharton. Give Hughes some minutes.

The really good news is the back line do not look like they are getting out of 1st gear. Like a training excerciese for them.

I mean all this with no disrespect to the opposition and we can only play what’s in front of us. COYP

I recall the Republic of Ire;and beating England in the Euros (1988 I think it was with a goal from Houghton if my memory serves me right)

No, all the socks seem to be a brighter yellow round the ankles, fading to a paler gold colour where they are pulled up, with the dark band at the top.

Hughes has his socks pushed down, so all you see is the brighter yellow bit with the dark band - La Croix's are much the same

In Germany .We was rubbish that year lost all our games and finished bottom of the group . Ireland didn't do much better the England game being their only points and were also eliminated at the group stage
