Semifinals - FA Cup

Probably as open an FA Cup as there has been in recent years and a draw that keeps us very much in it . No disrespect to Villa who are a decent side but its a game we have every chance of winning and getting to the Final

No reason to respect them either, our record against them in recent encounters is very good.

Villa are my least flavoured opponents.
Firstly for the simple reason that they are due a result against us after a series of games. It's just the law of averages.

Secondly they are a good team with some very good players and an excellent manager with a strong pedigree in winning trophies, particularly in knockout football.

There's still a few weeks to go, and I hope we can field our strongest team to give us the best possible chance of victory.

never lick a brummie

The days of Cardiff Wigan getting to the semi finals are over. We’ll have to play b well twice to win it. But why not? We’ve done ok against City and Villa, Villa are still in the Champions League that will be a distraction

We gave them a spanking earlier in the season at Selhurst but thats just one game .Apart from that there has been little to chose between the sides . Last 6 games sees 3 wins a draw and 2 losses and one of our wins was when they were in flip flops at the end of last season .

I think a bit of respect is due

Wasn't it 4-0 at selhurst?

We should have beaten them at their place, but we were under the cosh for 30 min at home even though we won 4-1 and they had a goal disallowed for offside and if the offside player had been circumcised the goal would have stood, proper silly rizzla paper decision. So recent results are irrelevant, but we know we can beat them, but they really do have some excellent players, the midfield is choc full: Tielemans, Kamara, Rogers, McGinn, Barkley, and Rashford is starting to look like his old self - we've had a few poor starts and ridden our luck lately, unless we're on it from the get go we'll get found out by the likes of Villa and City, less so Forest I'd say. Still fancy us to get through, need Wharton to get his passing boots on, hopefully Mateta will have returned to form by then cos he looked understandably subdued v Fulham, and I'm looking to Esse and Franca to come off the bench and do something special because we'll need to find our 'a game', which we did v Fulham, eventually.

Although unlikely, but if Villa were to see out PSG in the CL, they would be facing the first leg of the CL semifinals on the Tuesday (29-4) immediately after Wembley.
I reckon this means we’ll get the Saturday game therefore as they’ll have to confirm that before they know outcome of CL. Either way, Villa would have one eye on it so let’s hope they smash PSG.

We respect the opposition at this stage. Villa then if the gods favour us City or Forest.

We respect them but we really need not fear them. Not at this stage. We are one of the most in form teams in Europe right now. Ollie will go about his business. We have some important games coming up too. If we play as we have the last couple of months and with just a bit of Lady Luck, I think it could be 3rd time lucky. Why not us for once.

I would have taken Villa in the draw, should be another tough game, but in truth it’s anyone’s from here on in.

We could do with them picking up a few injuries before the 26th. Have they got Champions League to think about?
