Semi Final Match Thread

Villa fan in peace.

Just wanted to congratulate you for reaching the final.

Great performance from your lot and well deserved win on the day. We never seemed to get to grip with your front 3 (not for the first time!) and offered a little threat ourselves.

I must also say your fans really got behind your team and as much as it is hard to say our fans were quiet after the goals which was disappointing.

Anyway, good luck in the final on what should be a special day.

Nice one John & thank you. You lot made it a great day as well, hope you qualify back into Europe, tho, with league standings as they are, we could, even deny you a Europa League place if we win the cup.

Thanks for coming on here.

This is most magnanimous of you and you are deserving of praise for your kind sentiments.
Thank you.

Has anyone answered on how the FA Cup Final effects our fixture list. I think the final is on the 17th May and currently we have a match on the 18th. So have adjustments to our matches been made yet?

Same little kn**s you see being billy big boll***s at some of the smaller club away games eg Burnley Use to see a fair number hanging around a huge 50 plus bloke as if he was fagan Absolutely pathetic and embarrassment on such a fantastic day
You know what n wales eagles, I was so angry last night but not gonna let it take away from such a fantastic moment for our club.

The only thing that’s added to my joy is reading some of the comments on here about other people’s experiences and emotions.

Great times. In Glasner we trust. COYP

Some interesting information for those who don't know on the financial aspects....cut and pasted from an AI program.

'Crystal Palace's semi-final win against Aston Villa in the FA Cup would have earned them £900,000 in prize money. This is significantly higher than the earnings from a regular Premier League match, which are typically tied to broadcasting rights, ticket sales, and other revenue streams but don't include direct prize money for individual matches.

For reaching the FA Cup final, Crystal Palace will earn an additional £900,000. If they win the final, they will receive £1.8 million, while the runners-up will take home £900,000. These amounts are just the prize money and don't account for potential increases in ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships, and other revenue streams that come with the prestige of reaching the final.'

Make the cheques out to E. Eze, A. Wharton and J-P Mateta.

In all the justified euphoria of yesterday would you believe I’ve still found grounds for a quibble - VAR!

Whatever the intention, it seems to partly justify it’s existence by trying to find reasons to cancel goals.

If anything Konsa fouled JPM, rather than the other way around, for the JPM disallowed goal.
I also thought that they were going to maybe disallow the Eze goal for a supposed handball by Sarr when it was obvious that the defender just kicked the ball against Sarr.

Ok in the end it didn’t matter, but that doesn’t make it right.

Swings and roundabouts, some may say, but these decisions are magnified in the major games and it wouldn’t surprise me if today’s Forest v City game is determined by a controversial VAR call.
This is a concern for me as well. If it was, say, Hojlund who had scored that goal (I know I'm in cloud-cuckoo land) then Fernandez and co. would be surrounding the ref and VAR would look much more closely at the incident and probably give the goal. Not sure whether we should be be more pro-active in that situation but lets hope the Final does not rest on a controversial decision against us

I’m sat in a state of shock on the tube.

That’s about as good a performance I’ve ever seen from Palace. We really could have won by 6 and it wouldn’t have flattered us.

Villa fans being good sports in defeat. All mentioning how vocal our support was.
My granddaughter, who has been coming with me to Palace the last 10 years, said afterwards, "best day ever!" Summed it up perfectly 🙂

Fighting our way through the Villa fans on the way to Blue Car Park, got lots of "well dones" and "good luck in the Finals".

I chatted to one Brummie, and he was seriously unhappy with Dick Emery, calling him all manner of rude names. He said Villa seemed to have had the attitude of thems expecting to win, but Palace had turned up wanting to win...very big differences in mindset!

VAR did look at it according to the big screen at Wembley but presumably decided to stick with the on field decision. I think the VAR chaps tend to struggle to suggest the likes of Taylor and Oliver might have got it wrong.
I'd like to see some stats on this, but Oliver does seem to be called over to the monitor a lot. Certainly more than I would have expected. Doesn't excuse yesterday's decision. Thankfully, it did not matter in the end

dwarfed by getting into the Europa - though, of course, that should mean an increase in the squad size

That must be the finest Palace game at Wembley ever.!!
We were monumental.
Our team was immense to a man.
Our fans took over Wembley
I met some Villa fans before the game who said they dont mind losing to Palace because they think we are a special club.!! Well we certainly were today.
Ive lost my voice. I lost my way home. But had an unreal day out.
All the emotion amongst all our fans.
Through the smoke of our flares and the blue flags, I saw us emerge victorious.
Truly unbelievable day out with the Palace. They just get better and better.!!
Wembley again ole ole......Bring it on. I even changed my flight to the 15th today to be sure to be back for the final.
