Scintillating U21's

The average annual cost of running a Category 1 Academy is £3.5m

I've no idea what the Palace financials look like in terms of breaking even etc., but I would hazard a guess that it's not making any money.
Doubtlessly correct but a bit like a gold prospector you never know what you might find!

Alas no live Palace TV tonight to show the lads 6-0 demolition of Chelsea, the highlights will no doubt appear on the site later.

Chelsea still above us in the table so we have beaten a top side again.

Mustapha (2) and Ola-Ademobi (2) doing the main damage.

Things are looking up, to put it mildly.

These are now play-off games so Chelsea will now be out.

The highlights are up now. Chelsea had quite a few chances at 0-1 but subsequently could not handle Palace's transition game. Mustapha, still 18, has a rocket of a shot and is probably ahead of Ozoh at the same age

Next up, I believe. winner of the Fulham Southampton match-up, playing Monday

Just watched it and It looks like we have some decent talent coming through. If 2 or even 1 make it to the top the academy is showing its value. Many look good enough for L2 or a couple even L1 so that is success.

Here is the link to the highlights.

Mustapha few more of those....

Like to see him in the first team squad.

😎
Another great result for the young'uns. Good defensively too. Mustapha looks the business, but is he ready for the first team? Bit early to tell.

I was a big fan of Rak Saki, and whilst he's doing OK at Sheffield, I don't think he's yet showing PL quality. Such a big gap.

I'm kind of interested in this Rak-Sakyi stuff. Would like to point out that he has better stats than Esse. Just saying.

He has 2 caps and 1 goal for his national team, Sierra Leone, so he's no mug at men's football. I think he'll be in consideration for next season's 1st team squad.

As for Rak-Sakyi, I think he's not quite there, hence our buying of Esse. However, Rak-Sakyi has shown that he can play at Championship level. It will be interesting to see how much he goes for if (and probably) when we sell him in the Summer

Rak-Sakyi, not in Sheff Utd squad today.

As an aside our U18's managed a 3-3 draw at home to Brighton. 2-0 up in 1st half & cruising & at the start of the 2nd half didn't it show, thinking that's it, we've won. Someone didn't tell the oppo, 74th, 76th & 79th minute goals put them 2-3 up. Thankfully, the kids equalised in the 85th minute.

Couldn't be bothered to start a new thread.

Oh thanks, I was watching a two nil up and then had stuff to do!

Fasida 89th minute, candidate for U18 goal of the season.

A really good game, I was absorbed in it from start to finish.

😎

Not exactly Palace Talk or on topic but I noticed Rob Street scored twice today to get Doncaster the three points they needed to secure the Div 2 Title. Gives him 12 for the season in 22 games and ends up with the best goals per minute in the division.

When he went out on loan a couple of years ago he got some promising reviews but not many goals. Takes some players longer to find themselves in the professional game. Not that luxury at PL level where you have few chances and make an immediate impact to get established.

I guess his parent club Lincoln will have been impressed. Or if not that Doncaster will want to sign him.
