Sage is sage

What! No Deano or Canvot???? Must have caught Doucoure’s illness.

Wharton as Captain- hopefully this will focus his mind and see him improve on his last two performances- where he was uncharacteristically sloppy in giving the ball away.

Lordy Lordy!
Deano must be unwell or injured. Benitez always makes me nervous. Who knows with Canvot but he has been poor in the first three games so him losing out to Honest and Tomiyasu doesn’t really bother me and doesn’t weaken us. I don’t really view that as a big surprise.

Reported Dean is nursing a foot injury apparently, Canvot falling out of favor is fair given Sage has performances and effort in mind, and frankly Ahanor performed better on his time on the pitch so far. I do worry about our ability to bring on a game winning sub, we might struggle if we need a way back into the game with 20 mins to play.. unless Chillwell does it again.

The fact that Sage has selected three defensive midfielders above Guessand and Osario tells you what he thinks about those bits of transfer business

Yes with Nketiah still recovering and Guessand out of favour there's no real replacement for JSL.

After watching all 5 games this season, I think it’s important to preface my comments by stating that it’s very unfortunate that the team has been destabilised by the antics of Mateta and Sarr. However, that said, I am now not convinced by the man management style of Sage. Protecting Mateta and Sarr while publicly calling out McNeil and Guessand ( NEITHER OF WHOM ARE ON STRIKE).

Also, I now wonder whether tactically he is up to the job as we see having shipped 11 goals in 4 league games.

I think we see how the next two games go and then make a decision about potentially appointing Eddie Howe during the international break.

Even tho I want to give Sage a chance , I think he’s killing the dressing room spirit.
Dropping Guessand, McNeil , Canvot cause they’ve had bad games.
Also what happened to Osorio
Does this mean Pino Wharton and Richards are next to be dropped next after Ipswich
As for Sarr , if he’s not injured there’s something is not right there
How long will parish give sage as De boer only lasted 5 games

Sage will be gone in 6 weeks or less, you might as well sack him now and save the misery.

Sage isn't obliged to rate players just because they did well under the old regime. Indeed, he has already suggested how frustrating he finds it that players seem only to understand Glasner's system.

Far too early to be calling for his head. Not so long ago, Palace had three points from the first eight games. Then look at what happened. I thought we'd take five points from the first five games this time out. That will not be. Three is most likely, four not impossible, but I suspect Leeds will be 2-0.

The end of the international break should bring players back from injury, hurt feelings, discussions with lawyers, whatever. Forest at home could not be more motivational.

I suspect we'll see Guessand (does he look like a £20m player to anyone?), McNeil, Canvot against the Poles on Thursday. It would be good to see Franca too. There will be a Europa group and a Premiership group with some key players overlapping. If Sage doesn't know his best XI yet, that is hardly surprising.

That will be difficult as he's out on loan to Alverca in the Portuguese prima liga

Just out of interest, if you had to choose, would you rather Sage or Glasner to be our current manager? No explanation needed.
100% Sage.

He has a clear plan and shows authority with decisions. Some poor individual performances and he calls players out just like he should do.

Yes the Ipswich result was frustrating as it’s a game we rightly should be listing as a certain 3 points Disasi mistake cost us. The Burnley home game with glasner last year was equally as bad( if not worse considering the 2-0 lead).

Sage has had an incredibly tough start and continues to do so with Sarr and mateta milking injuries to mask their disappointment at not getting moves.

We have a manager that actually wants to be here and has so far displayed impeccable respect to the job and club.

Glasner has shown his colours. A money merchant who would sell to a fat greedy Greek and will 100% be sacked or walk within 18 months.

It’s not been ideal with players at the World Cup but we are hardly unique in that.

On the other hand he’s had as benign a set of opening fixtures as you could hope for. Only Man City is a game where you think they should be better on paper. Despite that we’ve been awful. We simply can’t defend. The tactics and selection are all over the place and we’ve put ourselves near the relegation zone. When you add in Sage seemingly falling out with 6 players so far then he just doesn’t look in control of what he’s doing.

At some point we need to stop making excuses and admit the manager is currently out of his depth

If he loses the next two games sacking him is a possibility. I would give him a chance until at least November, I like the attacking intent, but the defence needs solidifying. Things still disjointed and messy at times. Excuses whether justified or not; There has been a lot to deal with and we are still only a point behind united and ahead of spurs and villa. The two wantaways have not helped, wharton poor form, losing lacrouix, late start due to the world cup, lots of new players, having too many for the europa squad, dasasi sending off, missed chances in games etc. Time will tell. Parish etc will know more than we do what the situation is behond the scenes and when the time is right to pull the trigger. He is not afraid as he did with De Boer and Warnock. Still enough positives to see a future for the current team. Patience.
