Are we sure that Thomas Frank is a good manager? From my understanding, he did well at Brentford...but recent developments suggest that was as much to do with Keith Andrews as Frank. Then he went and failed at Spurs.

Did I miss something?
Keith Andrews joined Brentford as Set-Piece coach in 2024.
Thomas Frank was appointed Brentford manager in 2018.
Frank did benefit from Brentford's much admired data-driven,scouting-backed player recruitment model.

There is one thing for sure, Steve Parish cannot judge whether to sack our manager on a game by game basis. There has to be a more strategic decision for him including have I got someone decent lined up and will I have to pay mega dosh to get him? Something that many fans seem to overlook. The sacking decision is only one half of the equation.

Depends how bad it gets. There are caretakers.

I’m surprised he is still here. We are already in the mode where every game matters. We can’t afford to just burn games which is what we did against Spurs and we look like doing again v Liverpool. Let’s face it, I don’t think anyone believes Sage is going to turn this around anytime soon.

So is she now a bloke and your fat 🤔
Well I’m not fat, broken and old but not fat. She had a really sexy little dolphin tattoo near her lady garden. When I revisited it for some gardening… it had morphed into a rather large sperm whale looking thing. This was of course 10 years later. Drunk at a gathering.

Ahh the good old days when I had better things to do with my time

The problem being no one can positively say who can turn things around. Sage seems lost , and leave him in the job to much longer and it will become a an impossible mission for just about anyone.

Well to be fair

Igor Tudor, Thomas Frank, Ange Postecoglou, Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo, Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, Tim Sherwood, Andre Villas-Boas, Juande Ramos

All failed at spurs too.

It could just be Spurs are s***. Better than us granted, but still s***

I remember at the start of the 24/25 season when we were in the top 4 after 15 games that when i ran through the team sheet that there were very of the team that you sould say were not in the top 3 for their position in the Premier League. Henderson, Mitchell, Guehi, LaCroix, Richards and Munoz at the back. Wharton and Kamada in central midfield, Sarr Mateta and Pino up front.
2 season's on and we are now in the bottom 3 after a similar ( albeit lesser amount of games )
Comparing the 2 starts the first thing that jumps out is 2 years ago we had a very settled starting 11 and no European competition to contend with. This meant we were able to train the whole week and not had to play and travel twice a week. We were also able to benefit from a settle team which would have led to a good understand of what everyone is doing both defensively and attacking wise.
My third observation is that in the previous 2 season's the squad has been stretched due to our succeses and the playing group as a whole came into this season fatigue due to the amount of games ( both with us and internationally ) the players have played. This is now a contributing factor in terms of player availability and the ability to play similar starting line up's in games.
I am accepting that our current form this season will get us relegated but i don't think replacing the manager is going to suddenly transform us into a mid table team due to these circumstances. We need Mateta and Sarr back playing regular ( which should happen ) This will free up passing options in Midfield for Wharton and his game will come on. We also need another decent centre back who can play out form the back. This will let Sage play his wing backs further up the field a proceed with his pressing game.
Systems are part of football but it is usually the quality of players you have at your disposal that make the diffference.
Most of the potential replacements suggested are not experienced in playing in Europe so will have there work cut to really make a difference. Man U and Sunderland are suffering from similar issues.

An article offering an opinion on where Palace currently are.
The conclusion seems to be that we are where we have been before, and that there is certainly no need to panic or probably change the manager.

I have reached a different conclusion, based on our defensive woes which I don't see changing under Sage.

Does the article persuade you that Sage is the right guy?
No article would. I've seen enough. You can't transform a team's style of play from the relegation zone, but particularly without suitable players. Sage must be dreaming about our capabilities rather than looking at them on the pitch. The style we're employing is crazy. It's not going to work for maybe a year or two involving an entire squad overhaul. So, it will never happen. Make the most of what we have or just go.

I don’t think the start of 2 years ago is comparable with where we are today.

Under Glasner I thought the team weren’t far off getting results, and once things clicked we’d be fine.

Sadly, because I do like Sage, I don’t have that same feeling.

I think you mean last season (25/26) as in the 24/25 season we were 17th after 15 games with just 13 points

This is true, there is a world of difference between then and now, we look a shambles at the moment tbh, shame because I’ve always said if we’re to go down I’d sooner go down attacking, but if it carries on like this we haven’t got a fighting chance

Sadly, I concur with this statement. Depressing, isn't it.

We have looked a shambles in pretty much every game except v Leeds. Could easily just have 1 point. Will lose to Liverpool, although I hope against hope and will watch the game. Sage should go. Asap.

As others have said, the current situation is not anything like as comparable to the slow start two years ago under Glasner as Woosnam suggests.

He touches on how much more credit Glasner had in the bank at the time than Sage does now. That's certainly true. It's not the most important thing, though.

Everyone, from fans to board to players, could see that Glasners set up was coherent and appropriate. It wasn't just that he had proven his ability previously, the evidence was there in front of us on the grass, just like it is on the grass now at Forest. Whether his approach is the best one or not is a matter of opinion, but you can see that everyone has a clear idea of their job and that those jobs relate to each other.

I can't see any of that under Sage. I just can't see what he's trying to get them to do. Moreover, I can't see that they, the players, can see it either. That's the key difference that Woosnam seems to miss. I fully expect Palace to go on losing runs most years and flirt with the bottom three occasionally. No problem. Keep calm and carry on. That only works if the method is sound enough to come good over time. That's the grey cloud over Sage.

The fact we had far better players under Glasner is indisputable. I'm sure that, along with injuries, late summer arrivals, and fatigue are making life difficult for Sage. All the more reason, however, to implant a durable, sensible system and method, appropriate for the circumstances. Changing the manager wouldn't change the circumstances, but it could well deliver a better method for those circumstances.

Can anyone see us picking up the amount of points necessary to even stay in touch with those teams around us using the players available and Sage's tactical strategy? I can't, and that's why change is essential. It might not even work, but following the current path (doing nothing) will most certainly continue the disastrous form that has led us into the relegation zone. And has been much discussed, it's not just Sage, the whole ting needs a good re-evaluation.
