Stay for now till Xmas break

I wonder why the team slow the game down when movement is needed

I wonder why they choose to argue than some one be mature & step up & lead by example

I wonder why Wharton game has gone to s*** since he’s become captain

I wonder why Kamada pulls out of winnable tackles

I wonder why Benitez kicks it so high & Long to the tallest defenders

I wonder why we are so static from throw ins & corners

I f***ing keep wondering why

Under most circumstances this would not only be a reasonable approach, but probably the only sensible one.

I do wonder, though, if we're in one of those situations where just not having Sage would be a boost in itself? Like when United did much better as soon as Amorim had gone?
And today at Old Trafford, all the fans were chanting "Bring, Back, Amorim!" .

He seemed to have a vision to build something but we live in a push-button, max-distraction, quick-fix, uber-eats society where no one wants to be 'uncomfortable' or 'anxious' for even 2 minutes and thinks a solution is just 2 clicks away. We can't carry on being so cosseted. You have to dig in, tough times come. Next few seasons may be very tough for us.We must savour the remarkable success in recent times.

Nah. Amorin was rubbish and so is Sage. It’s not like managers have never been sacked before. This isn’t fans getting upset because we are not in the top ten or something. We have a shambolic team that is conceding more than two goals a game. That can’t go on

Does anyone know what Sage’s style of play is.? Genuine question.

Front press high up the pitch with 2 wing backs as far forward as possible, win the ball in the opponents third, then play one touch football around the box, scoring with ease and smashing every team we play, absolutely perfect in theory. The Reality is khalaili can't pass the ball to save his life, Strand Larsen tries a back heel or flick that never finds anyone. we have 2 lightweight midfielders that the opposition plays through with ease, then 3 centre backs, who all have a couple of mistakes in them and can't even hold a line.

On a broad level I agree with your societal observations.
In football terms, I'm not so sure.
It could have meant we would have stayed with e g Holloway or DeBoer and I genuinely don't think that would have ended well in either case.
I don't see it as a particular failure to acknowledge that a manager is not right for a club or vice versa.
It's a fact of life and better to be dealt with.
Time does not always fix problems and indeed can make them somewhat worse.

Generally, I agree with you. Modern football fans in particular have become far too self important, to the point they seem disinclined to even try and understand the fundamental aspects of football, sport, finance, and even life!

That doesn't mean that every expression of concern or dissatisfaction is misplaced. I hate the idea of wanting the manager out at all, never mind this early. Sometimes, though, you just see so many apparent red flags that you can't ignore.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater matey?!

I've been a supporter for nearly 4 decades now. The last few seasons have brought unparalleled success and we have brought in foreign investment: 'Woody' as you say knows very little about UK 'soccer' I would wager. Stripping more identity out of the club via some vendetta for a Parish ouster is arrant nonsense!
Then get ready for more seasons like now and the further Americanization of the Holmesdale experience. I appreciate what Parrish has done, I can also appreciate that if we remain happy with what happened in the past then we are not building for the future in a league that is always evolving.

Additionally, you are confused in that Woody would run the team, he'd bring in a CEO to run the club. I'd also ask you to name the UK owner of a club who has won the PL in the last decade which tells me all I need to know about the requirement for an owner to know about UK soccer. They may not know soccer but they know business and the PL is a money league where you have the have, the have nots and the happy to be here's.

I take your point but I do wonder if a lot of fans of all clubs see 11 players run out on a perfect pitch with packed stands all round and animated advertising hoardings - all on their 4k TV sets and believe they are watching some kind of simulation or ultra-realistic game of FIFA. Push a button and you can abort the game and play someone else??? Change it up.

Our team just came back from an impressive draw in a huge cauldron in Istanbul in the second highest comp in club football. That's a 3500 mile round trip and then back in S London to take on the supposed richest club in world football 3 days later. It is all such a world away from what I began watching in the early 80's that it is utterly surreal.

I cannot fathom how 1 year ago, the most successful manager in the club's history could turn down a new contract and 12 months later we may parachute in, Sean Dyche! Does that point to serious disrule with the players ?

Before handing the reigns to Woody Johnson to make decisions such as who the CEO is you might like to check out the New York Jets which he owns. Generally seen as one of the worst run teams in American sports and a byword for nepotism and incompetence. They are a running joke in the US. Recent highlights included Johnson’s sons rejecting a player because his computer game version didn’t have good enough stats in a game they were playing.

I would politely suggest we would like Mr Johnson to have less influence, not more

My problem with changing the manager is he will just be in the same boat. He will get f*** all help in the market. He may change the tactics and get a bounce but thats about it. We do not have a strong team at the moment. 2 of our best players want away. The rest are either not great to start with or playing so below there previous levels it does make you wonder if they want Sage gone.

My biggest concern is the dire list of candidates available. I like Rob Edwards but he has a record that makes Lampard look like Pep. What does it say about the state of things that Dyche is probably the best option. Thomas Frank was pretty good at Brentford.

It is really quite depressing to be honest.

The team isn’t strong but that’s not why we are so disorganised and using tactics that leave us massively exposed. That’s on the manager. There is no reason a manager shouldn’t be able to 1) see the limitations of this squad 2) play tactics that give the best chance of success not ones that keep failing 3) bring a basic level of organisation to the team 4) motivate players and give them clear instructions

I don’t think anyone expects this team to be anything other than average but I can’t believe somebody else wouldn’t do the four things above better than we are seeing right now

I totally agree with your first paragraph. I'm not sure many palace fans are like that, though, even these days. Why would you support Palace if that was your mindset? Surely you'd just support City or arsenal or whatever.

I also agree with your second paragraph. Amazing game, incredible to see palace on that stage. Felt like we were finally in Europe properly after all that f***ing about in Cyprus and Ireland and wherever last year. Also, it's well known how hard it is to play well after a European away game.

However, even as the kind of bloke who agrees with you fully on those two things, I still have serious concerns that Sage is the wrong man.

I'm not sure the drop off points to player attitude necessarily. One cycle ended, as it was bound to do, the next one was always going to be tough, but I think the club just wanted to be brave and go for an exciting upcoming coach to keep the momentum going, rather than a safe pair of hands given the circumstances, and it hasn't worked.

Real shame, I was warming to him but it seems to me that he is not learning his lessons.

The minute a side decide to turn up the pressure we crumble, the players don't look happy, the atmosphere today was awful throughout the first half and we weren't even losing.

We go behind in every game, so surely you think what are we going to do if it happens again? But no, we crumbled again with absolutely no plan. The only time we threaten is if an individual comes up with a moment of brilliance.

If I was the chairman, I'd be saying give me a reason to give you more time, but I just dont think he has it in him to change. Even his post match interview was lacklustre.

Unfortunately I think he's toast and the players know it. Sorry Pierre, in the words of Alan Sugar, you're fired!
