Not selling the best players that were instrumental in winning 3 cups ..
You do know they wanted to go?
They did not want to play for Palace anymore

There’s currently 17 clubs above us managing their FPP limits , Maybe the sale prices the club achieved for our best players against the cost of the poor replacements need to be looked at .How do you define 'backing'? The club plainly spends everything it can on players, hence the constant rubbing up against FFP limits.
Whether they've spent it wisely recently is another matter.

In the same way the cup winning manager didn’t want to manage the club anymore either .You do know they wanted to go?

In both cases because they could more than double their wages. It’s not a lot more complicated than thatIn the same way the cup winning manager didn’t want to manage the club anymore either .
Seems like a common theme .
Why do you think that is ?

This appears to be the case. I don't detect any sulking or downing of tools, but in a way that makes it worse. They are trying thier hardest and Sage's approach still doesn't even remotely look like working.Just put this on the match thread, but more appropriate here.
I do get the impression that the players still want it to work for Sage, and Deano was very positive about him in the press conference. However he might be a nice bloke, and they see positives in training, it is simply not working on the pitch.
He is either an unlucky omen, or just simply out of his depth.
Personally I think it is a mixture of both.
We do not have the players to keep going with this 3 at the back so bloody change the system and make it harder for the opposition to score.

I agree with your points, apart from not getting rid before Liverpool.Posting this here rather than in the match thread.
Genuine question for all the Sage-in supporters. Can somebody honestly explain something to me?
Putting aside the fact that recruitment hasn’t been particularly strong, why do we persist with exactly the same system, game after game, when it so clearly isn’t working?
Look at Hoffenheim. They managed to go from one end of the pitch to the other almost unchallenged. Our full-backs are too high, our defenders dive in, and enormous gaps open up behind them. We’ve all identified this as a problem, yet somehow our esteemed French coach apparently hasn’t.
Surely the first thing you do when you haven’t got the players to execute your preferred system is make yourselves difficult to beat? Lock it down. Keep your shape. Perhaps, as a revolutionary tactical innovation, try not conceding in the first 20 minutes.
Instead, we go hell for leather up the pitch, lose possession and ten seconds later we’re picking the ball out of our own net. And it’s hardly an isolated incident.
The alternative isn’t much better. When we do sit deeper, any opposition free kick around our box becomes an invitation to score. Our back post is more welcoming than the average brothel.
So this is my genuine question to those who still support Sage.
If you haven’t got the tools at your disposal to play fast, expansive football, why are you insisting on doing it? Why are the full-backs constantly pushed so high? Why persist with zonal marking when we clearly can’t execute it? And why, when the same defensive problems occur every single week, does absolutely nothing change?
Surely the first priority is to stop conceding goals?
I genuinely don’t think Sage knows how to set a team up to shut a game down. He appears to have one approach, and if it doesn’t work, the solution is simply to try it again.
We’re making a side sitting 12th in the German league, and with no disrespect to German football, look like prime Brazil at times. The uncomfortable truth is that some of the points we’ve picked up this season have owed considerably more to the opposition being bloody awful than anything we’ve done particularly well.
For me, this experiment has failed.
The only reason I wouldn’t make a change immediately is that I wouldn’t particularly fancy throwing a new manager into Sunday’s game against Liverpool. Frankly, I can see them putting seven or eight past us if we approach it in the same way.
There is, however, one saving grace.
I’ve been betting on Palace to concede inside the first ten minutes for the last ten games, and financially speaking, Sage is proving to be one of the finest managers I’ve ever encountered.
