I see Khan has settled the Tube Drivers pay strike. Taking his lead from the rail settlement the drivers are getting an above inflation rise without any changes to T and C's.

On an unrelated note TFL has announced it has abandoned plans to investigate driverless tube trains.

I guess Christmas has come early for the RMT.

He’s an absolutely odious, horrible little man and I say that from personal experience. Totally undeserving and one of the last people on earth who should be getting an honour such as this.

Can anyone seriously put together a case why this man should get a knighthood?

Ken Livingston was never a man I liked but leaving his politics aside he was a pretty reasonable Mayor (if you support Labour).

I can't think why even Labour would argue that Khan has been a good London Mayor, all the metrics he controls have gone down on his watch.

He made a complete hash of TFL's budget and had to be bailed out by the Tories and now Labour. Crime is out of control and congestion in London is appalling which is impacting business.

It's one thing to win an election, quite another to be handed a gong for doing a good job.

Don't get me wrong the Tories are just as bad with their gongs for donors it's why the whole system should be scrapped.

Its the utter genius of the British Establishment. The honours system is how they snare almost every psychopath ( and to almost a man/woman/thingy any and every shade of politician is one) by effectively absorbing them into the system. The entire edifice of how the UK plc is run is designed to act in this way. The real outliers are those who remove themselves from it (Tony Benn is a good example) but those are as rare as a rare thing.

Apparently the lot of MP's develop an almost addiction like attraction to Westminster. The most anti-establishment types get elected and become enthralled by the very thing they claim to despise. But then its all about power, and the attainment of, anyway.

My thoughts exactly. Still isnt Thornberry married into the aristocracy already? Can’t think of any reason either of these deserve it. As Thirnberry was overlooked for DPP, perhaps this is to keep her quiet

She is already a Lady; giving her another title is like Charlton making Allan Simonsen their player of the month when he'd already won the Ballon d'Or.
