He come back from major injury still used 38 times under Viera so he couldnt give him full games at the time , but yes he did have a tendency to not track back at times ,

He did mind though. Roy had dropped Eze to the bench and when asked about it at the prematch said that he didn’t know how to defend. One day later he was reinstated. It appears Parish heard about this and ordered Roy to reinstate him as Palace had paid £20m on the player and wanted him in the team. He was never dropped again.
Incidentally, Roy initially put him on the wing as he wanted a replacement for Zaha. After the intervention Eze knew Hodgson couldn’t touch him and moved back into his favoured more central position and the rest is history. Poor Roy never did understand forwards!

Honestly it’s comments like this that make me realise fans don’t understand the complexity of transfer negotiations. It’s not as simple a packet of chips. Will they offer ketchup as well? What about curry sauce? What type of vinegar are they suggesting? Will they chuck in a small wooden fork? In reality it’s very complicated.
