Romaine Esse

As Coventry have been promoted automatically he will not be required after the last game. Coventry can keep him until end of May but to what end. My guess is he will be back at Palace, he can train with us just not play.
It doesn’t work that way. It’s not flexible, it’s not like “oh we don’t need him to stay to the end so he can just go back”, he has to stay with them until the expiration date.

However long is left to run on the loan agreement, I'm sure Palace could recall Esse at any time if they wanted to. It would be pretty unusual not to have a recall option. Clubs have them inserted in case of an injury crisis at the parent club etc.

Glasner won't pick Esse even if he comes straight back to training with Palace next Monday morning and leaves an apple on his desk. Johnson, Pino, and Guessand have struggled so badly but the club haven't recalled Esse, so Glasner plainly isn't having him.
Actually it is perfectly normal not to have a recall clause. If you want a recall clause included, you have to negotiate that when negotiating the loan.

Hopefully Cov saw enough in him and fancy keeping him for next season.

Would cut our lesses and sell him for half price if they fancy. But if not, would settle for another loan (with an option to recall in Jan if he's not getting much playing time)

It's pretty standard to have a no fee recall clause but that has to be used during transfer windows. Other than that, there can be reasons to terminate the loan. Usually when set criteria aren't met (appearances, role etc) or when the player is unhappy, or a squad emergency. However, in those cases, it can lead to fees for breach of contract. But nobody usually takes loan litigation very far. We had problems a couple of times. Look no further than Uche this season.
