Review of the season so far!

It really is only a matter of time before we go. If not this season maybe the next or the one after that.

I agree that someone said we wouldn't do a Leicester and pop back up. We are more likely to do a Sunderland, Blackburn or Charlton for a few years.

It is draining every season. Only ever getting 9 or 10 wins a season and a purple patch to get us out of trouble.

I don’t think anyone does underestimate it, it’s not good, BUT clubs survive, I’ve been going 50 years and have witnessed about 7 relegations, we’ve been as low as the 3rd division in my time. My point is the club has always survived(admittedly just a couple of times) and will still be around for those who still want to support it in the championship.
It seems those that get the most worked up about relegation on here are those that have never witnessed it and they’ll probably be jumping ship if the worst does happen. It’s not the end of the world though, a lot of us have had great times supporting this club outside of the top flight. If we get relegated and have to have a fire sale of players, it won’t be the first time and probably not the last

Lesser quality of football and less media coverage but apart from that it really makes no difference to me, I only go to support palace, couldn't really care who the opposition is, your match day experience is probably better in the championship as less crowded.

Every season, 15% (3/20) of clubs in the Premier League get relegated.
If relegation were entirely random, we'd therefore expect to last about 7 years.
But of course it's not random, and there's probably one-third of the league who will never get relegated given the finances today.
That means, for the rest of us, average Prem League "life expectancy" is about 4 years.
We have survived for 3 times that!
In the time we have been hanging on, a lot of bigger, wealthier clubs with much more eminent histories and bigger crowds have gone down (think Leeds, Sunderland, Newcastle, West Ham, Villa, Derby, Wolves).
I think SP has done an amazing job.

Hear hear! Well said Steve!

We have had very bad luck this season with games picking on a few being Brentford with a couple of strange results, Everton again. We cannot replay those games but we will improve our results and move away from the relegation zone soon and steadily.

One possible positive this season is that Devenny and Agbinone both look like players who could make their mark with the first XI. I really like the look of Asher who looks strong, quick, skilful and brimming with confidence, while Devenny showed a great deal of maturity. There are also a couple of other young lads like Mustapha and Marsh who also might get their chance in the near future. Add to that the successful loans of JRS, Ozoh and the goalkeepers and I still feel positive even if our current predicament is not great.

All part of the boards master plan, get relegated before they get called out over the new stand, I can't believe so many people fell for it. We will be back in the championship and what was it all for ? Over the last 10 years 90% of the time it's been mediocre to poor football, American owners who have no interest at all. Oh yeah we will reap the rewards of the great academy, that's been heavily funded, don't make me laugh, we've not produced a decent player since zaha, the only reason Mitchell is a prem player is because the club have never bothered to buy another lb. I'll be surprised if Glasner doesn't walk first. After years of showing no ambition it's about time we got relegated, we just make up the numbers now anyway.

On a lighter note, I’m having a colonoscopy next week.

It is terrible at the moment. Really bad but not as dour as it was and we have got a lot of players out. I’m not making excuses for OG as I really think he makes a rod for his own back with his rigid formation and keeping faith with Kamada.

However I still maintain that the board will not let us slip and will revert to a Roy type manager as soon as it really becomes a problem, my guess is 2 losses next and a chance will be made so whoever comes in has a chance to asses the squad and can make his changes in January.

2 wins next and we will all feel very different.

Hard to believe it’s that long ago now. It’s strange to think there’s fans who’ve never actually experienced relegation. Someone said SP could do with a dose of relegation to straighten him out and realise his mistakes, well I think reading some of the desperate posts, there’s a few fans who could do with it to really feel what a bad season is like and give them a bit of a reality check
It's just wierd thinking a Palace chairman should be straightened out after being the best and most succesful chairman in 100+ years. It's just a good laugh reading things like that. No offense.

None taken, because it wasn’t me that said it if you read it again
