On the point about modern slavery in the UK I do wonder if the numbers are distorted. Migrants who claim to have been trafficked almost always are allowed to stay. So I wonder if the ambulance chasing lawyers encourage people down that route.

I am not saying there isn't people trafficking but just like the "gay" loophole the numbers maybe exaggerated.

They are told to do it, because it gives them cause for appeal which is how they actually get to stay under the current UK system.

If that data I've read on it is accurate (Refugee Council and BBC), then the scam runs so that the initial rejection is fairly high with "only" something in the area of 40% being approved. The scam is that 66% of the appeals are successful. So the government can honestly say, "We are rejecting initial claims at the highest rate in decades" while in reality roughly the same numbers are coming in over all, they just had to appeal the initial decision.

can you define 'commonwealth country'.......often the native tribes of the Caribbean got annihilated to make way for slave ships.

Australian aboriginals equally got sidelined by a tsunami of newcomers. Nigel and Sharon arriving in to take over the place. Sure mate, commonwealth countries benefited greatly.

By the best estimates:
- African slaves that went the Americas (Primarily Central and South America): Roughly 12 Million
- African slaves that went to the US: 400,000
- African slaves that went to the Middle East: Guesses come in between 10-14 Million.

Most Middle East estimates also tend to include India as well.

Calypso, much nicer, worked in Trinidad a couple of times and traditional music is a big thing. A bit of Bob Marley is fine too, but no steel.
