the vast majority of Slaves either got removed from the gene pool....the Darwin awards for all the male slaves. Or the female slaves impregnated by slave-masters.....as we find in the Southern States of the US or in Brazil.
How can you seek recompense when your own dna was the offender ? If everybody could follow their dna back far enough, they will always find a Genghis Khan....a nasty fecker.

But of course, in the spirit of the Good Friday Agreement, and everybody trying to get along peacefully, i am willing to let more recent injustices be forgiven ( but never forgotten). Many of the perpetrators still alive today, unlike the Hannovarian crooks that David Olusoga wishes to be brought to a form of restorative-justice.

Moral high-ground ? maybe Mr Olusoga can start with the villages we air-bombed in Iraq. Only a few Palace-managers ago.

The average GDP per capita today of countries that most of the transatlantic slaves came from is less than USD 2,500. If there never was a slave trade you would have larger unsupportable populations, likely constant famine and a high mortality rate.

Just stating research not by any means condoning anything.

Zero reason why people today should pay anything for acts of the historic population of the UK centuries ago.

To even discuss it and open the door a crack is madness.

They run their economies badly, pilfering off as much as they can personally skim, and then make these ludicrous claims. But 6-7000 slaves per year either sold by them to various "customers" or used within their empire. Around 1.2 MILLION in total from 1701 onwards, and 3-500,000 sold to Europeans.

The modern borders don't match their empire of the time so many slaves were from northern and coastal Ghana, but a major source was Burkina Faso, Togo, Mali, Northern Nigeria and Niger.

Seems to me that Ghana owes a hell of a lot of money to those nations then, far far more than we owe them looking at the numbers.

why discuss an historic Slavery crime ? especially when its all still alive and well ? Can the Phillipine's government ( Christians ) make some representations to the UN ?

We owe no one nothing. They want to have a close hard look to see if they owe us for fighting through the whole of 2 world wars for em. We never finished paying for that lot until 2006. I wonder how many other countries had that debt until then? They can swivel.
