Reform

Andrew Rosindell quits Tories and defects to Reform UK

And so it continues.

What I found more interesting today was some polling from Wales... A Rupert Lowe led party, which does not even exist, polling at 16%? That is insane. Has to be an outlier or some kind of skewed questioning designed to get that response ? (no point in being overly excited about this despite being somebody who, if asked, would tick the same box)

I was born in Roehampton I'll have you know .
Snails I like
Frogs legs less so .

Ok, but if you have a French flag and have your name with the word French as part......I think it's safe to regard you as a Frenchy....Not the worse thing in the world but....Well....just not as good as these isles.

Man....how can you eat a slug?

Don't get it.

What's funny, again, is that Labour poll below Torys in Wales. Below Tories. Let the popularity of this government sink in.

Live here , when you fill in the profile for the site it's ask s country of residence .
As for snails you only taste the garlic parsley butter, end of the day say are same as seafood , mussels , clams all similar .
Believe me the French don't get some British cuisine .
As a Chef myself I would say they had a point 40 odd years ago , but British cuisine with all it's influences now is great .

French food is awful. Even their bread is crap. How it got a reputation for being good is a mystery.
I stick to basic stuff when I'm there.

I wonder if Trump's current mind bomb will hurt Reform. Farage has considered it critical to be filmed licking his a**e for the cameras. Many who love Trump appeared to be hoping for a Trump II in the UK. Will he now distance himself (or else keep his tongue in his mouth for the time being)?

I am aware that people will vote Reform because they like their policies and especially their stand on immigration. Those guided by those promises will vote Reform irrespective of Farage's attempt at Trump Lite. However, the thing about populism is it also attracts swingers, the way Brexit did. The one third who voted Leave due to the reasons given were insufficient to get the vote across. You also needed numpties voting Leave to "stuff the Tories" (!), or because they did not like austerity (!?!) etc.

Likewise Reform. Many will have little clue what they stand for but will give them their vote as they are "something different" etc. They may find Reform less attractive if Trump becomes a by-word for anti British or megalomania and Farage continues to cozy up and seek to mirror his policies. Damage by association.

Yawn.

I live in France and you are talking nonsense
Well, each to their own, but in my experience, what is on offer in France is sub standard or revolting. The fruit is maybe better. That's it.

If they can't even make a decent French loaf then what chance do they have? Not to mention the prices.

Being a Chef gives you maybe a slight pass as you no doubt kind of need to eat a lot of posher stuff more regularly than most...if for no other reason to know how good your product is (not that I'm ever going to knowingly eat a slug myself).

I'm too common to bother with the middle class stuff but that's just me.

I take your over-arching point.

Na.

Not, with the current line ups.

Reform are going to be voted for by people who don't even normally vote that way.

Exactly in the same way this current Labour government got in.

The issue in France is that the very best cuisine is in the high end gastro restaurants.
Very expensive .
Years back you would easily get a really good ‘ dish of the day ‘ or set menu of the day in many restaurants in villages and towns .
Good home cooked food and affordable .
You hardly see these places now .
Lots of sandwiches and snack fast food .
However the produce in the markets is good .
I’m a private chef for wealthy people, so yes I and the rest of my family eat very well ( there are always left overs 😋
