Reform

Your first sentence is essentially policy for both Reform and Restore.....except they haven't been sullied with the reality of not actually doing what their party wanted.

As for Rwanda?

Are you seriously referring to the scheme that could hold 200 people at a time?

How on earth can you seriously mention that scheme? The capacity was far too small to act as a major deterrent. It didn't stop jack and the Tories weren't serious regardless as the immigration figures showed....it was for exactly how you used it....a soundbite, not serious policy to actually change the reality of what was happening.

And the cost for this scheme that changed nothing?

By July 2024, the incoming Labour government said the Rwanda scheme had already cost about £700 million. This figure included:

  • £290 million paid to Rwanda
  • Costs for chartered flights that never departed
  • Detention and accommodation costs
  • More than 1,000 civil servants working on the scheme
The Tories weren't serious.....If you are going to be serious about immigration, both legal and illegal, then you have to change the laws....Braverman made this clear.

The Tories ignored her.....because it's all a dog and pony show.
I am fully cognisant of the financials whilst recognising that continuous challenges and road blocks added to the cost.
In my view, to reward illegal migrants by allowing them to stay in the OK isn't just immoral, it actively encourages others to do the same whilst enriching the gangs who provide the boats. The only feasible answer is offshore relocation and the Conservative government tried this with the Rwanda scheme.

The 'Reform' plan of using the Royal Navy to intercept the boats is unfeasible and unlawful and yet another example of total hogwash spouted by the party.

I personally felt the Rwanda scheme just needed to become a famous deterrent. They never intended to relocate economic migrants in their masses, but a sufficient number to deter small boat crossings. Where the Tories could have been stronger would have involved leaving the ECHR. I don't know why that was ever spun as a complete removal of all human rights. It would just be a replacement with our own jurisdiction of the exact same rights, but without anyone trying to butt f**k our national security.

Particularly when Arsenal were being sponsored for £10m a year by Visit Rwanda.

It is exceedingly relevant.Kemi Badenoch has compared the 2024 defeat to a relationship break-up, the Conservatives cannot act as if nothing happened and must demonstrate it has learned from its errors.
Akin to 'M&S' a long-established brand can adapt to the modern market, win back customers and restore faith.
'The Right Way' seeks to re-anchor the Conservative Party in core economic principles whilst debating how much the party needs to distance itself from or own our previous record in office.
What good will all this do us when you can't get enough seats to form a government?
If you are thinking longer term, Britain could be lost by 2034. A coalition is the best you can hope for

As a former Tory voter, I cannot forget the failure to see Brexit done properly, the millions of immigrants that Boris Johnson allowed to come here, or the woke nonsense that was allowed to proliferate.

I will vote Reform, and I would urge anyone who wants to halt our spiral into oblivion to do the same.

Reform will not get enough seats to form a Government. A year ago Reform were riding high in the polls with Farage seemingly set to be the next PM, at present their prospects are vastly different and their 'Direction of travel' is not positive.
Reform will pontificate about the "14 years of Tory rule" blah, blah, blah, whilst in their ranks are erstwhile Conservative ministers.Scrutiny of Reform's policies and financial plans has highlighted several areas of concern from economists and political analysts.Reform are a populist movement with a lack of credible policies for governing.

Kemi is doing well but the polls not shifting, I believe there is still a long way to go to restore any public trust in the Conservatives, they still have MP's wearing blue who should be wearing orange.

It is clear the target audience of the policy announcements was primarily Tory voters who defected to the Lib Dems in the stupid belief they were not radical socialists led by a buffoon.

Whatever happens, if the parties on the right do not make a deal and get some very clever tactical data voting algorithms there is a chance the country will be irrevocably lost, at the moment whoever wins the next GE has a really poisoned fiscal chalice. Even with significant cuts to welfare throwing public money at useless NGOs and charities, the out look is bleak for a few years until and unless there is proper growth.

A very robust policy on migration , legal and illegal is a pre requsite, we have a constant flow of Hamas man given house, benefits and right to remain type stories. There are a lot of people who will have to be removed from the system to somewhere, where is the problem.

We will need to see people literally forced on trucks with their families and taken to airports.

Reality is often grim.
