Reform

It could easily be a manipulation couldn't it. However, the Greens and Your Party are just as likely to split the Left. The reason Labour is pandering to immigration and Palestine at the moment.
You mean good cop, bad cop, or Lowe being a stooge?

There are many possibilities here but my main take from recent events is that Reform are the Tories. With the same vested interests and unlikely to change anything. I also have no idea about Lowe. I can't see Restore as that serious. I wonder if we see it all, or part or nothing? I'm really unconvinced by all politics now. The media being so partisan makes it no easier to fathom.

The Tories had 14 years to fix Britain and made it worse. Labour will see this country ruined for the sake of power.
There is only one sensible alternative.

I agree but I did not like all the Tories joining Reform.

I'm ok with Jenrick (though he also did questionable things) and Braverman, but Nadine 'Online Safety Bill' and Boris fan Dorries is very concerning as is Nadhim Zahawi and Danny Kruger....all social liberals.
I've actually been warming to Zia Yusuf....clever and while I have concerns over how Lowe was treated I think he benefits Reform as he's strong on social policy.

I've said all my criticisms of Reform previously so I won't repeat them here but I think with the economy worsening they are definitely best placed.

We accept that mistakes were made, however we prevailed in 3 General Elections and we had the Covid pandemic on our watch.
We have learnt from our mistakes and are willing to fight for our values.
Reform provide roll-off the tongue populist solutions to complex problems and I welcome the scrutiny they will be subjected to in a General Election campaign.

On that note I will have to depart from this discussion as I am shortly on a Zoom call with members of the Conservative Party.

'Fight for our values'?

House price conservativism.

Yeah, the values that produced where wa are.

'Mistakes were made' doesn't cut it. Nothing on social policy has really changed.

You still have all the liberals in your party...Penny 'trans women are women' Morduant is looking for a seat and is coming back.....and all that matters to your guys is that the left don't think you're racist.....It literally sums you guys up.

You will give the country away to foreigners just as long as you aren't called racist.

Conservativism that didn't conserve.....still won't by the way.
The party that voted for Cameron over Davies will never change

Should be sued under the trades description act.

I like Badenoch but cannot be convinced that the Party behind her are not still old Tories with old Tory values. Sorry.

I thought the Tories were doing really well during that week when they said they were going to be pragmatic about Brexit and look at how they could derive benefit from it. I also liked telling people to back off when they were too near me in a shop. One of the best pandemics any political party ever gave us. The country turned on them because they had a bit of an orgy during the aforementioned but I was able to forgive them that. I liked their thing about giving economic tourists a free holiday in Rwanda as well. Their only mistake was not reminding people that Rwanda is nicer than Croydon, the ECHR might have left them alone if they had. Of course, a fast thinking Tory might have remembered they were trying to honour Brexit at one point and a swift kick to the nuts of the ECHR could have solved some problems, but we all forget stuff. Still, lots of fab soundbytes that didn't mean anything, I felt sad when the red conservatives took over from the blue liberals.

With the greatest of respect I totally disagree with your comments.
My larynx was operated, grunts emerged through pursed lips and snorts of derision filled the air in 'Casa Willo'.
We are certainly NOT 'Birds on the same twig' apropos this matter.

Next to nobody will watch.

Elections won on one-sentence soundbites on social media.

The day of serious debate died with "project fear" and "take back control".

It is a question of Parliamentary experience. They had it, Reform needed it.

The only thing that matters is defeating Labour. Absolutely everything else can be resolved after that.

It's simply a question of numbers. Restore don't have them. They won't have them. They don't have the infrastructure or the money to be a contender. Lowe is pursuing a revenge campaign and that could cost the country dearly. I can't take him seriously while he puts his own ego before Britain.

Under the leadership of Kemi Badenoch, the party has explicitly rejected the idea of shedding its values. Instead, Badenoch has argued that the Conservatives lost power because we abandoned our principles whilst in government, creating what critics called an "ideological mess".

I was present at 'Conference', the leadership presented a strategy focused on reloading and clarifying traditional right-wing principles through the 'Right Way' blueprint.I was in numerous discussions both at 'Conference' and outside where core beliefs and ideology were at the forefront of our deliberations.

I am in total agreement with the 'General thrust' of your comments concerning 'Restore'.
I also agree that 'Labour' have to be comprehensively beaten and it would be a disaster if the outcome of the next election resulted in a coalition of the 'Left'.

What you have learned is irrelevant. You spent 14 years doing the exact opposite of what you promised.

You cannot win the next election, but you can stop Reform from winning. That is a disaster for all of us who care about keeping Britain remotely recognisable.

When your area is 'Piddingtoned' and you sell up and leave....it'll be an analogy for what the Tories did to the country.....and by voting blue you won't escape the judgement of English and British descendants for what was allowed to happen.

It is exceedingly relevant.Kemi Badenoch has compared the 2024 defeat to a relationship break-up, the Conservatives cannot act as if nothing happened and must demonstrate it has learned from its errors.
Akin to 'M&S' a long-established brand can adapt to the modern market, win back customers and restore faith.
'The Right Way' seeks to re-anchor the Conservative Party in core economic principles whilst debating how much the party needs to distance itself from or own our previous record in office.

Unless Britain starts sending every Channel migrant abroad to for offshore relocation the boats will continue to arrive on our shores. The previous Government tried this with Rwanda but there appears to have been a lack of resolve to implement it quickly enough. The policy obstructed by activist lawyers floundered and Labour abandoned it for ideological reasons.
The Rwanda scheme was workable and I am delighted that we have announced we would leave the ECHR.

I now need to 'Tog up' and depart to a Public House for some tipples !

Your first sentence is essentially policy for both Reform and Restore.....except they haven't been sullied with the reality of not actually doing what their party wanted.

As for Rwanda?

Are you seriously referring to the scheme that could hold 200 people at a time?

How on earth can you seriously mention that scheme? The capacity was far too small to act as a major deterrent. It didn't stop jack and the Tories weren't serious regardless as the immigration figures showed....it was for exactly how you used it....a soundbite, not serious policy to actually change the reality of what was happening.

And the cost for this scheme that changed nothing?

By July 2024, the incoming Labour government said the Rwanda scheme had already cost about £700 million. This figure included:

  • £290 million paid to Rwanda
  • Costs for chartered flights that never departed
  • Detention and accommodation costs
  • More than 1,000 civil servants working on the scheme
The Tories weren't serious.....If you are going to be serious about immigration, both legal and illegal, then you have to change the laws....Braverman made this clear.

The Tories ignored her.....because it's all a dog and pony show.
