Reform

I don't think it got as far as the courts as I think the government admitted defeat before the due date of the court appearance. The were wrong, we knew they were wrong, and they knew that we knew that they were wrong! Like every other u-turn the government have made, they didn't justify their decisions with any form of due diligence, just impose sh1t decisions and hope that nobody notices..
They either got bad legal advice or decided to ignore that advice and take a pragmatic approach expecting all parties to understand why it was sensible.

Reform aren’t sensible. Just look at their “policies”!

Of course that’s not ok but is it typical of the areas involved? Reform are playing political games. They don’t care about you.
It’s not ok, but you supported it, why? I refer to my reply to Willo. Is there any political party that cares about me? Reform seem to be the nearest but presumably that makes me a racist bigot!

Who else would benefit from the savings? Or are you suggesting there wouldn’t have been any? Whether it be us as council tax payers or income tax payers it’s still us having to bear costs that were avoidable.

Reform are quick enough to moan about legal costs they don’t like but seemingly don’t care costing us to score political points.

No democratic right has been restored because none was ever threatened. The elections being merely delayed as a sensible efficiency measure. Something every responsible politician ought to support and simply agreed to. Suspending hostilities to save the country would have earned Reform brownie points.

That the Government lawyers gave poor advice doesn’t change that.
So not having a vote for 7 years was not threatening my democratic right to vote in local/County Council elections? At the last elections we were not told we would not get another vote for 7 years. IF the Govt lawyers gave bad advice they need sacking.
Your posts regarding Reform are starting to echo your hatred for Trump, it’s going to be a long 3 and 1/2 years

If labour really did have legitimate reasons for cancelling the elections then they wouldn't have U-turned and covered reforms legal costs.

Oh dear, Wisbech…I look forward to you supporting the government’s position should they decide to postpone the general election in 2029 by two years. You know, because of a ‘restructuring’ that will ‘save money’.

Just look at Labour’s policies; 15 u-turns, or is it more? Reform are holding them to account. I didn’t see Davey or the Tory leadership taking the government to court, yet both didn’t want the local elections delayed and are glad of the reversal.

Zia Yusuf is a very good speaker, shame he must be a bloody racist! 🤣
Such racists that they chucked Rupert Lowe out for his mass deportation policy.

I have Wisbech back on ignore. It's pointless arguing endlessly with nutcases.
In general, the type of people who keep shouting racist really aren't playing with a full deck. Their noise is fading into the background.

Interesting that I have just received an email from my local MP ( LibDem 😩) who has outlined that the reasons given by the Government from delaying the elections were nonsense. I am of a mind to reply saying he is wrong because Wisbech says so. Which of the two would you believe?

Lib Dems don't know what they believe.
Didn’t get my vote but tbf over the years they have been pretty good in local government here ( always between them and the Tories) but that was , mainly before the National Party went completely doollaly.
Well they believe a woman can have a p**** and a man can give birth

Anyone who believes that is completely delusional.
