Rachel Reeves

A strong feeling on the news that the Labour government are turning the economy around.
Perhaps but Raynor's employment bill is putting a dampener on business confidence which is seeing a decline in vacancies.

Labour maybe about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Only the next election will tell us the truth.I was wondering the other day will there be anyone left in the Tory Party to even stand at the next election.Deserting to Reform seems to be very fashionable, rats deserting a sinking ship springs to mind.

But the figures produce a feeling of euphoria that will help the economy along.A bit like being a player in a winning team.
'' Euphoria '' ? - You are deluded.

The figures have been positively received by some, and with qualified caution by others.

So better than expected results in the first quarter - pre the impacts of tariffs, NI and Employees Rights Bill.

Far too soon to be boasting about turning the economy around.

I went to the doctor for the first time in ages which probably explains the improved 'gwowth' figure.

A temporary blip I think, unless something fundamental has changed in the neoliberal model.

The UK is poorer because of brexit and 14 years of tory and BOE incompetence combined, I don't see much difference so far but realise what a task they have.

Removing all the brexit trade barriers is essential imo.

GDP 'not a measure of anything worthwhile' - Bobby Kennedy.

It certainly doesn't pay the rent!

Beak's definition of euphoria reminds me of that old joke, how do you know when your wife has an orgasm? She drops her nail file.

I also think Labour won the last election by a landslide-true?

But still here.

I thought your sources told you months ago she'd had it?

They're about as reliable at predicting this as they were predicting prosperity, closed borders and freedom from handing us Brexshit

Just my opinion, but one that I've held since the election.

Starmer and Reeves will be ousted by Rayner.

She's the one true ' Lefty ' of the three.
She only asked the chancellor what everybody else is thinking, that taxing wealth is not only necessary but desirable and socially just.

Use of food banks up, child poverty 4.5 millions, it's time for an actual change.

😎

Sinking with great alacrity under the waves, glug, glug, glug.
In a meeting with fellow Conservative Brexiteers tonight, our disdain for this disreputable Labour Government was much in evidence. We were puce with anger.
😡
Disreputable.

If I were you and your comrades, I'd refrain from using epithets such as 'disreputable', my old blue-rinse gigolo, considering your support for that most scurrilous 14 years in power that the Conservative government had.

Do you have suffer amnesia or perhaps the old memory isn't what it was, eh?

I have consistently asserted that we lost the trust of the electorate, the Conservative 'Brand' has been damaged and trust has to be regained.
We of course had to face significant challenges EG Covid and the war in Ukraine.
I accept that we have been tarnished but I do not accept that the "14 years of power" can be filed under 'Scurrilous'.
