Prof Jason Arday

I think we can blame Blair for changing higher education into what we see today. But not just Blair as the Tories also ended up agreeing with him.....You had a tiny fight back with Gove but not much.

Essentially it's been dumbed down and that's a reflection of society as a whole from the elites to us plebs.

The older generations were raised in more demanding environments and when you try to tell younger members of your family they just look at you as if you're talking about the existence of parallel universes.

He needed it just for the amounts of eye liner.
Whilst it is great fun to throw this back in the face of the DEI baying mob, there is a sinister and serious side that he is likely not the only example, just the most publicised.

Stories emerging of students who complained about his poor teaching and lack of availability to students were simply branded as racist and marked down.

Whilst I don't understand why anyone would want to enrol in what he was " teaching ", the students paid for a product they did not receive.

Progressives have rotted the institutions and put ideology before standards and merit.

Untold damage has been done here.

Are any of Jason Arday's qualifications still valid ? I see him still referred as Prof. Arday in some media.

I suppose we await the result of any academic investigation into how he obtained his qualifications with a review of his University submissions.

O'Brien has changed his mind.

This will be the closest you will get from an apology from O'Brien.

I remember when he interviewed Carl Beech on the radio. Up to that point I had only a vague idea of the allegations. Beech just talked a load of rubbish and I waited for O'Brien to ask follow up questions to clarify some of his more absurd allegations he didn't, he just allowed the guy to spout rubbish without challenging any of it.

That was the moment when I realised that Beech was probably a liar. Apparently a season journalist like O'Brien couldn't see that though.

It's my pet hobby horse when people give controversial interviews and they are not challenged with even the most basic of questions by journalists who should know better. It's their job after all to get to the truth, you don't do that by letting people off the hook.

I was wondering whether any of his qualifications could be revoked?

Cambridge University has a lot to answer for but even more guilty is Sir John Moore University who granted him his PHD. It was their original failure that started this.

My nephew who is autistic is currently doing his PHD in a branch of science. A PHD has to be original work, if this guy is now claiming his plagiarism is due to his neurodiversity then that is completely disrespectful to the many people who completed their PHD's despite their challenges.

I have noticed that there is one area that the media has chosen (so far) not to investigate and that is his claims about neurodiversity. They have ridiculed his claim that he was not literate until 18 (how could he pass his O and A levels). However how do we know if he is exaggerating his condition or if he even has any condition. Even if what he says is true that does not excuse his lies.

All in all he has done no favours to black people and people who have neurodiverse health issues.

I thought the Met had investigated a Times Higher Education journalist for asking questions

That is probably accurate these days.

When I went to school ( in the early 1980's) most people did not go to university. They got jobs. You went to university of you were clever or like me you went in order to do something else. I went as ai was sponsored by the Navy to study communications.

You then became a teacher or went into something relevant to your degree,

Now it seems you can go to uni to study any old nonsense ( I noticed the other day you can get a masters in festival studies - I would apply but am unable to remember virtually anything about my festival.attending days due to excess,) Now it's a product to be sold and you walk out with a first and possibly more stupid than you went in.

I was helping run a recruitment campaign recently and it's just scary how many kids with good degrees cannot actually communicate either in writing or speaking and have zero life skills due to them having some sort of 'ism,' that means they demand adjustments which probably can't all be given.
I get annoyed by students coming on this forum with questionnaires about football for their degrees. Really? "I have a degree in Premier League football clubs why can't I get a job?"
